Hi mick1963                               it's great to hear that your wife got awarded what she should have been.  However the first assessor should be questioned about the assessment and why there were so many errors in the report.  They keep getting away with inaccurate reports. I logged a complaint straight after my assessment and got nowhere. I have had so many errors from start to finish with my pip claim. All has been logged and I am now waiting for a tribunal date. It's great to hear you're claim for pip for your wife ended really positive.

when first assessor came we handed reports in from 3 specialist and he said he couldn't take them 
So my daughter sent them directly to the pip in Wolverhampton 
Not to assessment at atos 
So by time his report had got there they had more reports 
They already had doctors letter as they had written to doctor and we got a copy of report from doctor 
But pip  wouldn't write to specialist as they are only allowed to pay for one report from a medical person 
Doctors get paid £39.00 For writing report (but this has to be asked in writing from pip 
So anymore reports you have to get yourself 
Without the reports and letter from daughter  I don't think we would have got another review 
As the reports from specialist confirmed that his assessment was a load of rubbish

PIP has unfair assessments .I had such an awful time last time i had to have one when they changed over from DLA ,couple of months ago they sent yet another form for an assessment but as i was driven to the point i was on suicide watch this time i did not reapply .my children did not want me to go through that again and i would not of been able to cope ,i am alone i have no outside support .then a week later i had a letter for assessment from ESA .so i would of been fighting two assessments at the same time .i have no choice but to do the ESA one as i am already £700 a month down .i applied for home visit as always  sent drs report and keep getting letters for different times/dates and still no reply about home visit.I hae two young children and suffering anxiety attacks and severe pain is worsening due to all this ..so much for not persecuting long term disabled and sick ..

I feel your pain and frustration. The way PIP is operated leaves very little for compassion and understanding.
I too had to come to that decision - I'm 70 and my past 3 PIP awards were for 3 years, but renewed after 2. Based on that and the thought that I would have to go through all of this on my own every two years for the rest of my life filled me with complete dread and despair. I had no choice but to pack the PIP claim in deciding that I was well out of it.

Why are you putting in for pip 
You should be applying for attendance allowance at 70yrs of age 
Not pip 
Completly different claim now 
Phone attendance allowance up for more info

Yadnad was refused after his last review earlier in the year. Decided not to take it to Tribunal but continues to tell his story.....

Why PIP? I was on DLA up until 2013 when at the age of 65 they insisted that I had to claim PIP instead - it was a conversion case - not quite 65 in April 2013.

Having had to give up the PIP process, that is until some kind hearted welfare rights agency wants to take up the appeal process, you are right, Attendance Allowance is the alternative due to my age.

Yes it is a different claim and has different criteria to PIP. It is very much like DLA was for the Care element in part.

Unfortunately after reading what the criteria actually is , although it changes depending on which website you look at, I am convinced that I am not disabled enough to need the level of care that is required to fit the criteria.
For example and taken from the CAB website - 

You should apply for Attendance Allowance if you have a disability or illness and need help or supervision throughout the day or at times during the night (even if you don’t currently get that help):

As you say, Yadnad, similar rules to DLA.  You claimed that.  Why do you need a kind hearted welfare rights agency?  You have been pointed in the direction of several agencies in your area who would be capable of taking your case to tribunal.  You have also mentioned in the past that your son in law is a solicitor.  I guess he practises in a different field or you wouldn't be constantly bemoaning the fact you have no advisor.  Surely he could help point you in the right direction?

Yes I reclaimed in 2011 all on my own - it was a miracle that I was re-awarded what had been taken off me 7 years previous.
Maybe to take the failed PIP renewal to a Tribunal or at least give me the confidence to go it alone?
Yes I have, but based on past history none of them gives me the belief that they will do the job properly as in my wife's initial claim for AA.
Yes he is a solicitor in London but only deals with clients of high net worth. Of course he is aware of agencies in London but they all will only deal with claimants that live within that borough.

People can have oodles of confidence if they know what they are doing. Not knowing doesn't do much for that confidence.

Daughter phone them today 
Turns out wife was awarded on 10th 
Enhanced rate for both care & mobility 
Indefinitely 
We still haven't got letter 
Could be Xmas post 
Must admit except for first assessor 
The pip have been really helpful 
We did ask why the assessor  who had come to our home the first time had not written his report up properly 
And why he made things up when he shouldn't have 
Awaiting notice of this 
Want to thank people for support

At this stage it really doesn't matter whether you believe that any agency is competant. Surely any agency that will take on your case is better than giving up while you still have a chance, Or have you upset them all ?

I have no idea where this idea has come from that I have upset anybody at any agency.


The only contacts I have ever had with any agency go back 5 years ago.

I asked CAB for an appointment to help with filling out a PIP2 back in 2013 - they promised to ring me back with an appointment. I never heard anything, no phone call or anything. Put it down to them not wanting or having no time to help me.

Spoke to Age UK in 2015 who told me that they were closing down (the local branch) due to lack of funding, but in any event they could only offer basic advice at some time in the future.

Tried a local independent agency in 2015 but they could not offer an appointment for at least 5/6 weeks. 

My wife had CROP complete her AA claim back in 2011 which turned out to be a disaster. The Judge at the Tribunal wanted to know who had filled out the claim form as it gave no indication of what needs my wife had and in the round it was poorly completed. In that case I said I had done it in order to avoid the agency being embarrassed.

As I say I have never had a problem with anyone - I just move on.
