My son turn 16 soon as to transfer him to pip need advice

My 15 yr old turns 16 in may been told will need to move to pips hr as learning difficulties with traits of autisum but been told that he won't qualify he won't come out of school with grades and statemented  any advice would be much appreciated

Hi,

DWP will contact you either just before or just after his 16th birthday. PIP is different to DLA. It's not awarded based on a diagnosis, it's how those conditions affect your ability to carry out daily activities based on the PIP descriptors. No one can tell you whether his claim will be successful or not.

Evidence will be needed to support his claim and should be sent when you return the form. Expect him to have a face to face assessment because most people have them. His DLA will continue until a decision's been made on the PIP, providing the PIP forms are returned within the time frame given.
