Hi, my name is RandomRandy!

RandomRandyRandomRandy Member Posts: 4 Listener
I have 2 Hidden conditions (ASD and DID) and was diagnosed about 5 or 6 years ago. I am currently waiting for a transition from my present physical representation. I use he/him/his pronouns! My GP said I should Not really talk about my DID and Only focus on trans stuff! I tried reaching out to a DID specialist, but they can't take my case, as I have suicidal thoughts... any advise?

Hi @RandomRandy and welcome to the community! Thank you for sharing this with us.

Are you getting any support for your suicidal thoughts? Samaritans have a helpline that is open 24/7, with SHOUT offering support over text.

MIND also have guidance on how to manage suicidal thoughts.

If you haven't already, please do seek a second opinion from another GP. You deserve to be heard.

Hi @RandomRandy Welcome to the community great to have you here with us.

I would try and get in contact with your DID specialist and ask if there is anyone who you could be referred to if they are not able to take on your case. It isn't right that they just abandoned you knowing you have suicidal thoughts.

As above it is important you seek help and the above organisations should be able to signpost you to the right help

Hi @RandomRandy - Welcome to the community, & thank you for joining. As far as your DID goes, there are 2 websites I've found that may be able to offer some help & advice.
See: PODS (Positive Outcomes for Dissociative Survivors): https://www.pods-online.org.uk/
& also FFP (First Person Plural) : https://www.firstpersonplural.org.uk/
I hope perhaps some of this, as well as the advise given by others, may help. Please let us know how you get on, & do talk here any time, as there's usually someone about. Take care. :)

Thanks for the info! As I am NOT allowed to use First Person Plural, as part of "think trans, don't think DID" words of 'wisdom' from my GP, I am not sure if I should join a group with First Person Plural as its name... or am I being pedantic?

Hi @RandomRandy - Well I did list it 2nd, does that help? Actually I did think PODS seemed to have a lot of good info on it, then found the 'other' site. There's always the chance that there might be a little bit of help on both, so mentioned the sites in case you hadn't come across them. As to your GP's 'wisdom'............. :o

I'm okay thanks. I managed to get an address for a DID specialist, but she is in Macclesfield. My next task will be to chat online with her and go meet her face to face 🤔🤞🏻
