 Hi All,

I started a blog, inclusivelivingconcepts last year as I have lots of things I want to say and I believe that I can help people with my experiences and also learn from others. I don't understand about SEO and google rankings etc, apart from that ranking as number 1 in google would be amazing  Don't worry I haven't got a big head. I just thought it would be nice to create a thread where everyone who is blogging/interested in blogging could help each other. If you're interested in my blog or have any questions feel free. If you get in touch, I can follow you back. :D

Thanks, @Ami2301 I'll follow you back. Do you know anywhere I can learn SEO and is there other 'stuff?' I used to think it was just writing. Not replying in the other thread as conscious I may have inadvertently taken it off-topic. o:)

Thank you @Lucy411 :) All things blogging related, I have learned a lot from Ashley (Mental Health @ Home). Even though she mainly blogs about mental health, blogging is discussed once a week and she explains things simply enough for even me to understand (and I'm hopeless with the technical side of blogging)!

Does anyone know how I delete my free WordPress website and substitute it for the paid one above? WordPress wants to charge me money to redirect. I've followed everyone in this thread but the ones who have follow through WordPress will see the free website that is not updated.  :s

This is really interesting to hear. I have never looked at many blogs before but maybe it would be worth me looking at a few.

In my experience most of the internet is rude and hostile! But, I may well have just been looking in the wrong places! Obviously the Scope website is an exception but most sites I have been on like the YouTube comments section, review sections on shop websites, online video games and their communities, car forums, etc. are all unfriendly places with people being unsupportive or sarcastic! I have come across a few nice sites but the majority have been poor.

I always assumed blogs would be the same but maybe I am wrong and should take a look at some.

Anything really, I just like when someone is passionate about their subject. I do particularly like watches and cars though. Also food. :yum: I think I may have seen a few watch blogs before but not sure if they were actually blogs or just websites - what defines a blog?

@66Mustang I know what you mean but we’re a friendly lot. I’m disability but if you go on the Motability website and or their Facebook page I bet that community can point towards car blogs. A blog is a website but called a blog because someone is writing about something, usually within a specific theme or topic.

Check the archives on my Blog for past posts, some are all nice, cheerful and happy, some are like an extended episode of Eastenders, a bit depressing lol.

@66Mustang although a simple question, 'what defines a blog?' has been on my mind since you posed the question. Just my mind overthinking and all...  :D

I think 'a blog' can have a different meaning for everyone. My first ever opinion of them was that they are very similar to diary entries (but written for anyone to read). Since having my own blog, I now separate blogs from websites.

For example, let's say Scope's website. I see it as an informative place to find resources. A blog can also be informative but from a more personal approach... if that makes sense? :)

Check your inbox I just PMd you a link to Wordpress :)

Not too bad, relieved that things in South Yorkshire are staying as they are, if we'd gone up to Tier 4 I'd have to stay with my Parents till further notice, which would upset social services as I'd have to cancel both care companies till further notice, but quite frankly I don't give 2 hoots about them and their funding.

Given what I've just posted to lisathomas50 above, this may seem strange but I'm unsure whether to post about my current situation. I'm struggling and I think many are in the same situation but as I have no idea of the solution or what I actually want. I'm scared of bumming people out. One of my new PA's has resigned, change in family circumstances and the other is ill, meaning that I need to recruit completely from scratch. I hate this, I either have PTSD or just some symptoms, just begun therapy to hopefully improve/find out. I'm still battling Social Services who have out and out told me that without mental health evidence I would be expected to manage with four calls a day. Is this too heavy a subject till I reach some sort of a resolution? I'm scared of people's reaction and equally of no reaction at all but if I read or heard of someone going through a similar situation it would help me. All opinions welcome.

I had care for three years  I had carers to start with but I wasn't  keen because  it was different people  all the time

I then had a pa who was only with me six months as she had a baby so had to choose  another pa  but this time a chose a male carer  he had to help me shower and dress and everything but he was absolutely  fab   had a good working relation ship  I didn't need care after three years but he stayed with me and it was great

At the end of the day its personal choice you might like havring carers but if you are used to haveing a pa  hsvringvcates may not be for you I went on to be a carer and a pa  but  most people I worked for didn't mind either but liked haveing a familiar face walk through the  door everyday

It is stressful going through it all  but itd your personal choice  couldnt you have someone  with you  when your choosing a pa  would thst help tske some of the stress away 😊

I know from painful experience that the Social Services are a bunch of Clowns! I've been battling them for just over 3 years because of my morning care company, some of their staff are hopeless, <moderator removed - offensive content>.

Don't get me wrong I am NOT a racist, I just hate talking to these people, and will be in touch with my social worker tomorrow if I get chance, when she's back from annual leave.

Thanks. Tried that and nobody is denying I have care needs just how much budget that equates to! GP can't really help other than to say there is a diagnosis which is accepted anyway but not everyone with CP needs my level of assistance. I already know I prefer PA's. Thanks for the offer of a listening ear.

@MrAllen1976, I understand where you're coming from. I always say I don't care about where people come from, beliefs etc but they need to speak fluent English and understand me.

Thanks for the replies so far but my question was about whether I should blog about it or not?

I think its a good idea to blog about it because I think alot of people  have the same problem  with funding  I had funding for 40 hrs a week  which social services said I needed  but didn't need that much I  dropped my hours the 2nd year  and finished haveing care on the third year

I live in Wales and found when my mum came to stay with me for three months the help they wanted to put in was incredible  but my brother is still fighting to get care for her in  wolverhampton  so is paying for private care

I expect  you have already had an occupational  therapy assessment   to see how many hours of care you need  social services try and cut back on care  on one of the calls I had as a carer in the community I had 20mins to prepare dinner and fo personal care  thats why I did PA work in the end

The only suggestion I have if you need  more hours is ask social services  for a review of your csre hours which you have a right to fo

Blogging  about  it is a good idea though

Hey @Lucy411 sorry to hear about your current situation. I do think it would be a good idea to either write about it on your blog or on Twitter. I think Twitter is the most popular social media platform to hear about other's experiences. If you do share it on Twitter, please let me know and I will do what I can in sharing to my followers too. :)

Hmm 🤔 if it was me writing the post, I would start by sharing my experiences with employing a PA, then go on to say about how a PA has/would benefit my independence. Then briefly outline your care needs/aspects you need assistance with and mention youre actively seeking a new PA (or however many you need)

Then you can finish by asking your readers to share their experiences and if they could kindly recommend anyone/company/agency. I'd also use this question on Twitter, at the end of you tweet. My reason is because there may be some people who don't have a spare 5 or so minutes to read your blog post but if you ask a question instead, they would be more likely to answer.

    Hope this helps :)

How many hours do you get now  40 hrs a week was to much  for me becsuse I went back to work  my pa was still doing my csre and  tskeing  me to work I told them to give the hours to some  one who needed  the hours

Social services get  it so wrong  sometimes  and my pa was getting money  for hours he hadnt work  which I didn't think was fair

Hope you get something sorted out  the  other thing you could do is complain to the  CIW thst you don't think your getting the hours you need  you can also get in touch with disability rights

Hope you get something sorted out  the  other thing you could do is complain to the  CIW thst you don't think your getting the hours you need  you can also get in touch with disability rights

I have contacted people and everything is in progress, thanks @lisathomas50. I get more than 40 hours but less then what I need without my parents filling in. I'm pushing for 24hr.

Glad I could help even if its  in a small  way  other than that I don't know  my brother  lives in the west Midlands and he got in touch with a befriending agency to help him with my mum that is voluntary  and they do quite a bit fir my mum but it depends what  your needs are

If I think of something else I will let you know you can advertise for voluntary  help  if uou felt comfortable doing that  thats another option
