@66Mustang I had a good time but wasn't the most communicative! I was actually quite ill for several days, it seems family gatherings in the states also bring the usual transmission of colds and what not too.

Perhaps it was being on the airplane that caused the bugs? I don't know what sort of filtration systems they use but my guess is you are basically breathing in everyone else's air for several hours.

My brother got Covid from being on a plane quite recently.

My Mum actually got covid on the flight back, rest of us managed to miss it (we've tested). 

The planes do apparently now have filters on their air system but you're still basically in a metal tube cramped up next to people. I always try to wear masks on planes, even without considering covid it's so easy to get ill from other people when you're cramped that close together for 7+ hours.

I know if you know anything about physics it probably seems stupid to suggest putting a hole in a plane but I am sort of surprised they haven't managed to invent some way of getting fresh air into a plane and pumping the "dirty" air out. Maybe if someone invented something that could do that they'd become quite wealthy!

@66Mustang the air in airplanes is generally 50/50 internal/external air. So it does take in some external air. There isn't enough external air at the altitude the planes are flying at to keep the air pressure at a breathable level, so it has to use some internal air to keep the pressure high enough.

Very dull and wet here but to be honest I'm not a fan of snow so I am actually happy compared to on the weekend which unfortunately I got caught up in after a meal and drink out!
