There's a new estate just down the hill from us @janer1967,whenever one goes on the market it doesn't matter how 'staged' it is it just screams 'we've got nowhere to put all our stuff'!
It seems daft to build them without storage when most people have more stuff than ever to store these days.0 -
I notice the same with cars @teigr. I don't want to sound like I am hating on new builds, they are definitely needed and do have a place. But something I have noticed when we walk through the new build estates is that there is nowhere for people to keep their cars. They have maybe 1 allocated parking space if lucky but most families have more than 1 car, often several.
I guess they are trying to encourage people not to have cars, but the truth is until there is a fully functioning public transport system people will need to keep having them.0 -
That's true @66Mustang,a school on our street was demolished last year and there are plans to build seventy five houses on the site.
People who live on that part of the street are already panicking about where all the new residents are going to park.1 -
@Teigr sounds like a pain, unless there is a permit scheme in place anyone can park where they like, I'm sure you know that already. My Grandmother used to live in a tight street in London and there was a car dealer who parked his stock on her street which caused chaos. We are lucky as while we don't have a drive we did get 2 allocated spaces. Plus a neighbour who doesn't drive allows us to use her space.0
-
We hardly ever use our drive @66Mustang because it's behind the house.Parking out front wasn't a problem until recently, when three houses were sold and the street gained three cars and three enormous vans.
We've also got a new neighbour who won't use his drive and won't park in front of it either.0 -
@Teigr yeah I understand the hassle. At least you have the drive as a last resort I guess, unless disability makes it not really usable?
I have just made a banana loaf, without much help as well, it is in the oven baking now. It is something I can cook almost by myself as doesn't take any sharp knives to make it.0 -
The drive's useable,it's just the hassle of driving round there, opening the gates etc.
I have three overripe bananas that need using up but i don't have time to do anything with them at the moment.0 -
I'll probably make a banana and date loaf and use the odd one for banana and choc chip muffins.
We don't have an ironing board of any description @Sandy_123,i've always ironed on the worktop like my mother used to.0 -
Yeah I'm thinking these table top boards might be good to sit to iron, plus can go on work surface0
-
@Sandy_123
For a sec I didn't know whether you were suggesting to throw custard over the parked cars or the bananas lol1 -
Hi all everyone is busy one way or another, I hope yous are all good.

All the properties onmy new estate have 2 parking spaces each off road either in front or at side of their house which seems to work hardly ever see cars parked on the road1

Parking is awful by me as every house has 2 to 3 cars each not many have drives.

Good afternoon all you lovely's hope your all well, warm and dry.
Some great chats on here today about houses and parking just so i can add to the chat. The best thing about new builds round here @janer1967 is at least they are wheel chair friendly that's a good thing and the social housing have a shed in the garden for your storage ha ha.
Did manage to get out today @durhamjaide2001 went to a Town we haven't been to for years, just for a nose and get some walking in. Didn't buy anything just walked up one way and down the other ha ha. On the way there had a drive to one of our nice walking places to see what the river was like, yep burst its banks, thats going to make it muddy, but wont be going till weather a lot better then this.
Had messages from supliers got the new shower and wall covering etc coming Tomorrow and next Wednesday just hoping it will all fit in the spare room mmmmm x0 -
Time to settle down now, I have had a busy day for me
I hope everyone else has had either a productive or enjoyable day.
