Hi @JoOfVengerberg nice to see you, how are you?

Thank you!! Changed my notifs back because I've missed a LOT! Started back on the PhD on Monday, and I have cracked my question and figured out what I'm going to write for the actual creative work (a novel) so huge progress in a very small amount of time. Really happy with it. I haven't read much today but I'm part time anyway so whatever! Hope everyone's had a lovely week thus far, I for one am in pjs with a cuppa66Mustang said:Hi @JoOfVengerberg nice to see you, how are you?

@JoOfVengerberg
Great to hear about the progress on your studies. I don't know about you but I often spend half the time with written work figuring out where to start and the other half actually writing. That's not a figure of speech either, I literally can spend 2 hours with a blank page then 2 hours writing

That's okay mustang, i'm always losing track when the chats are busy ha ha - finally having my walkin shower done, well parts are ordered and being delivered just have to get my hubby and his brother motivated now to do it ha ha x66Mustang said:@SueHeath
Sorry I missed your post, must have been typing when you posted it. It sounds like you achieved a lot today, I must have missed you saying before but are you having lots of work done in your house at the moment??0 -

@SueHeath
Wow that sounds like a good upgrade
hopefully they get it done soon!! And hopefully once they start they get it done fast as it's not nice being without a shower!! Maybe you could book into a hotel while it is being done!!
We have a problem with our shower at the moment, we have 2 shower heads 1 fixed on the ceiling and 1 handheld one, the switch that switches the water flow between them is broken so the water is coming out of both. My Dad took the shower apart and a plastic part probably worth £1 is broken but they don't sell that part, only a full assembly for £100!! So we are making do with half and half water flow at the moment ha ha.
I was thinking of getting the plastic part 3D printed but I am not good enough with the design software to draw the part on the computer.0 -
@66Mustang, sorry I’ve been out checking my battery, it only has half the amps it should hold so I’ve ordered a new one.
as for diy, clamps are always useful especially longer ones, say two two foot quick release ones would be good. Also a set of drill bits could be handy, especially screwdriver bits or small twist drill bits (small ones snap off so always handy to have extras). Exterior wood glue is useful too, since you can use it for both outside and inside. Pencils and a sharpener always needed. Depends on how much you want to spend really. You could even buy a box of assorted screw sizes for not much money. I could go on but I think one or more of those things would suffice.

Yep just needed to get my body moving bit more @Sandy_123 are you going some were nice tomorrow, we went to Erdington haven't been up there for years. Blumming heck that trip to the hospital will be an early start - more so if you going on the bus, which hospital do you have to go to for that appointment ? xx
Hi @JoOfVengerberg nice to see you and nice to see you cracking on with your work darling. xx0 -
@leeCal thanks for the ideas, that is a lot to go on with, I'm sure something in that list will suffice perfectly. One thing I know he has loads of is clamps - but I think I now remember you saying that you can never have enough clamps?
PS sorry to hear about the battery.
Hopefully the new one will be the end of the problems. 1 -
I'm expecting it to be weeks mustang ha ha luckily eldest son doesn't live far and they said i can go to theirs when ever - if there's to much swearing think i'll stop there all day ha ha.66Mustang said:@SueHeath

My hubby would be searching his "very untidy" shed out to try and find something to fix your shower ha ha x1 -
Yes @66Mustang, it’s true, once you start clamping up you soon run out. A pocket drill set is also a handy item. Punches are handy, various sizes in a set often. New five metre tape measure or one of those high falooting laser measures. Another thing that’s handy is a metal rule, six or one foot long. And though I haven’t got one , a micrometer can be useful too. Loads of things to buy. Small torpedo levels are handy for fitting shelf battens. I’m having a stream of ideas now, I’d better stop or I’ll be off to b and q myself! 🤣
Forgot to say, yes I’m quite handy with a spanner but as I’ve aged I’ve become risk averse, I also have a friend who loves tinkering with cars and such and he’s said he’ll do the battery.1 -
@SueHeath my Dad is the same with the shed hehe always has something in there to fix something, sadly we couldn't find anything for the shower!!
@leeCal In my search I have come across something called a laser level - is that what you are talking about? It seems like a "modern spirit level" but I can't seem to understand what you do with it.1 -
@66Mustang in idea for your female relative w small food hamper mafd ip of few nice items from a farm shop .
I did this for mum for Xmas and she loved it . I just put the items in a gift bag rather than making hamper . Of course doesn't have to be farm shop2 -
Yes, exactly. I've really learned the value of letting things percolate though. I think you have to give ideas space and time, so doing 'nothing' actually means that hey, later when you get to the blank page, ideas are in your head. I think boredom is great because of this.66Mustang said:@JoOfVengerberg

Glad to be back to it tbh. 2 -
Thanks for the suggestion @janer1967 that's a great idea, might have to do that, we have a hamper from Christmas I can use so I wouldn't even have to buy the wicker so could spend all the money on the contents.
@JoOfVengerberg that's actually a great way of looking at it!2 -
@66Mustang laser levels are natty, they throw out a red spot and a red line of light so you just line things ups with the line or the spot, very accurate. Nice present. The big ones are very dear though and used in construction by the pros.
@SueHeath, I’m not as bad as I used to be, nowadays I’m more into bass guitars, I could drive you nuts about them too! 🤣1 -
