@66Mustang
Thank you 😊0 -
I'm worn out doing all that research today, managed to locate my dad's mom and dad and where they all lived. Where they all worked and age they died. Got my mom and dad's marriage details. So I'm as far back as 1878. So far so good1

Just been for a night time drive, going to sleep now, see you tomorrow everyone.0

I hope Lou67 got something nice for your birthday.
Family research is wonderful. It can be interesting and rewarding. I am in the process of researching my Dads Military career. He would tell me what he did during the war but not after.1 -

Lou67 I am glad you got lots of lovely presents and I hooe you enjoy your lunch out. Do you know where?
Sandy_123 I have pain My Dads paper records from the MoD..... but that only tells half the story...... if that. I have also been to his regimental (Royal Corps of Signals) museum and spent the day with the researcher (who was very helpful). I have also been to the national archives at Kew which was very interesting and I learnt a lot. Most if that was pre lovkfiwn so I need to revisit some of the information. I have also signed up to several websites (Forces War Records; Italian Star Association and so on). It is extremely interesting and I am learning a lot about the man he was. He was always my hero and as I learn stuff, he is now even more so.

@andrewkuk enjoy your rest after you get back
Hi @noman welcome to the forum
Morning @Hannah_Scope @66Mustang @c_j @Beaver794 -
I have a not too distant ancestor who ignored his national service papers because he was blind in one eye and deaf in one ear. He was arrested by military police and taken to where he was meant to be serving and made to report for duty. When he did so he was told there was no way he would be joining the army as he was blind in one eye and deaf in one ear so they booted him out. As a further kick in the teeth he had to find his own way home.0
-
Wow @66Mustang they were quite strict with it back in the day, but he was right, how could he do it.0
-
@Sandy_123 yeah in hindsight he maybe should have replied to the papers with an explanation rather than just tossing them on the fire though ha ha0
