It was, and still is, really hard to read some of the terminology used on official military records. I wondered why my great uncle never served in World War Two (being of age to in 1939) and he was listed as "incapacitated" on the 1939 England and Wales Register, which explained it.0

Yeah that might of helped haha0

@Hannah_Scope I noticed that, I think the military are a bit like the health service in that they almost have their own language1
-
My Great Grandfather was in the Navy and I asked an ancestry Facebook group for help with some of the codes and abbreviations. It was like their own language!1

Good afternoon everyone that's good @Sandy_123 wuu2 now. @Jimm_Scope did you enjoy your day of yesterday?0

Most military regiment's, ships, Squadrons or whatever have their own museum / association and on some cases a researcher and I have found them a great source of information and help in working my way through the language and terminology.
Unfortunately my Dad died a number of years so I can't ask him anything and I really wish I could. So if I can offer one bit of advice to anyone who is researching a parent/family whether military or otherwise is speak to them whilst you can; make notes and ask questions. You will realise one day how important those notes will be.

Ooo thank you, I'll keep an eye on that as I have other relatives I need to dive into the service side for!
My condolences on the loss of your dad. It's great advice. I've been speaking to my grandparents a lot0 -
