Morning all, feels like Monday!
Had a nice few days off, need to prepare for going away next week. We're off to the states to spend thanksgiving with my partner's parents My parents are coming too!2 -
Good Morning everybody. I hope you are all well. For me life is somewhat better than yesterday. However I am still in pain and still
Struggling, though that is nothing unusual and is something we are all aware of. I spent a lot of yesterday morning in bed but eventually dragged myself out and spent a lot of time in a nearby pavement cafe. Whilst here I wanted to visit the Pachendaeale site especially as it is rememberance weekend. I am aware my Grandfather fought there and survived and I still felt I needed to go there. I found out they were doing their commemoration yesterday evening. I felt I should go. I felt I needed to go. So I dragged myself there, thinking that if the people that had been there had put up with what they had to for as long they had to then the least I could do it is get there for a service that would last perhaps an hour. So, pain and discomfort or not I made it.
When I got there my partner helped me out of the car and held my arm as we rather gingerly made it up the road. We hadn't gone more than a few steps when a local person came out of their house with a wheelchair and asked if we wanted to borrow it. I was so grateful. We went on a little further and a Canadian soldier who was part of the guard took over and pushed me to the commemoration. We sat there in the on/off rain and listened to everyone and found it very moving. As we went to leave a Belgian fireman (there was a torch light procession) came over and pushed me back to the car and took the chair back to the owner. I was really really touched by all the help I got whilst there. From people I didn't know who didn't have to help but went out of their way to do so. I know they won't be reading this but I just want to say thankyou to all those people who go out of their way to help. These people make life more bearable when at times things are difficultand can be rather bleak. So thankyou to each and every single one of them......

@66Mustang yes, their parents have met my parents in the UK twice. This is the first time spending time together in the states though, and my parents first Thanksgiving. Should be an enjoyable time! Though their winters get colder than ours it's about the time of year where the temperatures are similar. It's really their January/February that gets much colder than ours.
I'm glad to hear you had a good time at the memorial @AndyGT, and that there were so many people helping out. I hope your days keep getting better.
thank you @Lou67 hope you've a good day yourself!

@Jimm_Scope we have relatives in America and they get lots and lots of snow around the times you say, I find it quite interesting that they have nice-ish summers like us but the winters are much "worse"0

The seas around us regulate the weather, keeping it more mild in both the summer and winter.
The east coast of the states has the ocean on one side, but on the other they have the continental Canadian Arctic region. Weather coming from that direction brings the freezing cold and snow.
Any arctic weather coming to us has to cross the seas. We still get it of course, but not as extreme as they do.1 -
Goof everning everyone1
