Changing your profile picture problem

In trying to help another member do this, as they mentioned avatars, which had me puzzled, I've lost my picture. When you go to 'Change your picture', a message comes up to 'Choose an avatar, & 'Save avatar.' What is this about? How do you now change your picture, or add the one you previously had, as there isn't an option for this?

Hi @Tori_Scope - can you help with this please?

Just had a play with it to see if I could help and seem to have lost mine too!0

This is what the box looks like for me, no option to select an avatar

Thank you for trying to help @66Mustang - that's how I lost mine in trying to help another member.
Great you got a screenshot. What is it with the mention of avatars?

Hi @chiarieds @66Mustang. I'd actually just noticed that you both seem to have lost your profile pictures.
Thanks for the screenshot @66MustangCould you both let me know what kind of device you're using (e.g. smartphone, tablet, laptop etc.) and the browser you're using? You can email this to community@scope.org.uk if you'd prefer.
I'll forward those details on to a colleague, who can look into this. I'll also take a look in the meantime to see if it's anything I can fix. It could be that there's been some sort of update or bug we're not aware of.
Sorry for the inconvenience!0 -
Thank you @Tori_Scope - I use a desktop computer & Firefox.

Hmm. I'm able to change your profile picture (which is an avatar), and I'm also able to change mine in the usual way @chiarieds (hence the temporary 'test' picture, don't worry, I'll remove it
), with the usual 'choose file' option.

Cheers @chiarieds, I'll pass this on. Apologies again.1

Hi @Tori_Scope - thank you for trying to help. I've tried clearing my cache, but am still getting the same message as in the screenshot 66Mustang provided. There's no 'choose file' option.

I've just tried with another browser I occasionally use (SeaMonkey - used with Linux) & it's just the same.0

How strange @chiarieds. I'll send it to my colleague, who will take a look and bring it up with the people that power our site.
It might not be a problem with the actual browser, but having that kind of information helps them to replicate the issue on their end so that they can look into what's happened.
Do you (plus you @66Mustang) usually stay logged in to the community, or do you tend to log back in and out every time? Did you log out and in recently?0 -
I normally stay logged in. I didn't log out, but had to sign in when trying with this SeaMonkey browser.

That's good to know, thanks @chiarieds.0

I use an iPad (Safari browser) and also a computer (Mac OS - Safari browser) and have the same issue on both0
-
Also - I stay logged in as well but I just tried logging out and back in and still the same issue0
-
Thanks @66Mustang0

For anyone following this: the problem should now be resolved. If you're still having trouble uploading/changing your profile picture, please let us know.0
