Hello, My name is Samantha. I am 26 with mild spastic diplegia. I walk unaided. I am curious to know what it like dating and being in a relationship. I identify as Queer. I really feel this is an important topic for adults with Cp to talk about. Seeing as all the research I've been doing, hasn't really shown a fair representation. Of adults dating and relating with Cp

Hello @SJohn95 and a warm welcome to our community.

You bring up such an important topic and you're right, one that needs much more recognition.  You mentioned that you've done research, what have you come across?  Also, have you started dating or is this something you're thinking about?

I'm tagging in @Richard_Scope, our CP information specialist, so he can discuss this with you more the next time he's about.  And in the meantime, you might like to read some of our threads that cover the topic of CP and dating:
Also, as mentioned by @janer1967, we have a Dating and relationships category that you're welcome to explore :)

I am interested in dating. I've been reading up on articles and watching some videos on youtube about dating with a disability.
there isn’t a lot out there depicting healthy relationships for folks with a physical disability.

Hi my names jade, 24, (also identify as queer :) ) wheelchair bound and have spent the last 6 years in a relationship with someone also strangely called Samantha (broke up 6 months ago). I don’t have CP but being wheel chair bound for the last 7 years, my opinion is that any time I talk to someone “non disabled” their immediate reaction is shock that I’m not a virgin honestly. Just my input from a non CP point of view ;)

    Hi @SJohn95
Thanks for posting and it's great to meet you. I think that a healthy relationship is a subjective thing. What is healthy for one person isn't for another. What kind of questions do you feel you need answers to? Dating is challenging for everybody. Be your true and authentic self and don't settle, would be my advice and don't rush it.
