Unfortunately any legitimate company will not employ anyone without proof of right to work . By doing so they are breaking the law and would be subject to a hefty fine and possible closure
Anyone who does I would suggest they are not a company or business you should even consider working for1 -
Your NI number will remain the same, regardless of what name you have.

Thanks guy's.
I am now aware that employers are under obligation to request and receive an applicants ID and right to work document's.
Upon receiving my relevant documents I will proceed to find a part time job.
I assume I only need one copy of the document ( maybe 2 as 1 for spare ) as I won't need to send any off to my bank etc, as it is already in that name.
Does it not need to be legally signed by anyone , or once it arrives in the post is that everything completed ?
Kind regards0 -
I would get a few copies you never know when you might need them eg if you apply for passport or driving license etc
I have only ever done it through a solicitor in person not by post and would make sure you are using a reputable source to do the change and its not a fraudulent source0 -
Hello
Good idea thanks, I might get a few copies then.
The source is online on the government website.
Out of curiosity , if someone lost all their copies what would happen then , would it mean having to put in for a name change again in order to receive more documents ?
Kind regards

I was thinking of doing it through the government site online, does that still involve a solicitor ?
Thanks0 -
Hi
I have just read the gov website , it doesn't involve a solicitor but your application goes through the court system and your new name is then pit on public record known as (the gazette)
So I presume if you need another copy then you could get one through them
However as good practice you should always keep important documents safe and make sure next of kin know where to find them. Also send a photocopy not the original if possible
If handing them to employer or something they will need to see the original and then take a copy which they certify to say they have seem original copy and date it was seen then the copy is retained on your employment file1 -
Thank you Janer, thanks for all of that information I have taken it all onboard.
I am having some difficulty with ordering birth certificate online. 3 issues.
1 - It asks for father's name, he was not put on the certificate so do I still have to put his name down ? ( won't let me proceed if I leave that blank ) . I took on my Mum's surname ( from her dad ) when I was born.
2 - online form, is asking for order reference, what do I put for that ? ( where green tick is drawn ) also, blue box alongside it reads '' set ref'' , not sure what it is ?
3- it is also asking for a customer reference ( where blue tick is drawn above ) , what do I put for that ?
NOTE :names have been changed on picture of the form for display purposes .
Many thanks as always guy's ..0 -
Hi
I'm sorry I'm not sure and unfortunately due to my vision impairment I can't see the pic you have uploaded
For fathers name try putting typing in unknown but I would have to match to whatever was on your original
I don't understand the other questions is there not a guidance sheet or something
You did used to be able to get copies from the register Office where your birth is registered0 -

Why would you need to search ancestory when getting a copy of your birth certificate? The helpline are there to answer any questions you have.

Hi everyone.
Sorry for not updating on the situation in the past week or 2.
I received both my birth certificate and change of name deed poll within 4 days of confirming the order. I would have done this years ago had I known.
I feel I now have more of an identity as beforehand with having things in 2 names It felt I didn't know who I really was .
Thanks for the help everyone0 -
