Hi @66Mustang sorry to hear you've been feeling like this - by the amount of reply's you've been getting you must feel the love we have for you.
I find Jan/Feb the worst months of the year - saying that it's a great time to make a bucket list of things you want to do this coming year.
If you like your music bang the volume up on a happy song for you.

Hi everyone,Thanks for the really nice messages and the concern.
I am definitely still here, and I check the forum every day. I have just been taking a bit of a break from posting, unless something came up that I had a really relevant response to.
I was finding things were getting a bit intense but it does seem to have died down a bit more recently. I will try to make more of an effort to post again.
I’m a bit low recently as I’m struggling with a family member due to finding conflict/their grumpiness hard to deal with. I also am expecting the PIP forms to arrive on my doormat any day for a reassessment. However on the positive side I’ve done some more cooking recently (with help) and got a grade B for my most recent Economics assignment which I was not displeased with as it was a tricky one.
Thanks everyone again for asking after me, I appreciate the messages a lot

Morning Mustang.
You do seem to have a lot going on at the moment, hopefully things will get better very soon.
Grade B for Economics assignment thats great well done.
I'm interested in what you have been cooking lately.0 -
Thanks for the update @66Mustang, there is no need to post if you don't feel as though you want to, so please don't feel any pressure to do so
Good news on the cooking and assessment score, those sound like great things to keep yourself busy with. I'm also curious about what you've been cooking
Sorry that the troublesome family member is still causing you concern.0 -
I have cooked macaroni cheese a few times now and am getting close to the point where I can do it without any help. I think it’s a dish I could ultimately cook on my own, because there is no need for sharp knives (I find using these hard with my obsessive thoughts of harming myself/others). I’ve also done some baking - cereal bars and banana bread

I do like mac and cheese @66Mustang I've not tried, but I wonder if adding Worcester sauce could change things up a little? And baking is always fun in my experience
How are you finding managing those obsessive thoughts lately?0 -
That sounds great @66Mustang if your not vegetarian it's also nice with bacon bits or ham pieces in it , haven't thought about worcester sauce @Alex_Scope i do like a lot of English mustard in mine.
I LOVEEEE a nice piece of banana bread Mustang, i love that your learning to cook, do you enjoy it.0 -
@alex_scope adding Worcester sauce is not something I had thought of, I might have to try that as I like it on cheese and toast. I am managing OK-ish with the thoughts, thanks for asking, but they are a little bit intrusive at the moment.
@sue_heath that’s a great idea about putting pieces of ham/bacon in! Thank you. Yes I’m really enjoying the cooking
@teddybear12 thank you very much. Sadly it’s not possible to just avoid the person. They are quite close family (grandparent). Sometimes they are nice (they are also financially generous to us!). I think they care about us deep down. I think we just need to try speaking to them but it’s a case of finding the correct moment.

@66Mustang let me know how the mac and cheese experiment goes! It's good to hear that you're managing ok at the moment, but you know we're always here for support if you need it
Mind has a tool which can help make sense of any scary thoughts you might be having, which you might find useful.0 -
@Alex_Scope I’ll have a look at that, thank you1

Hey @66Mustang , i found my love of reading again ... believe me , my concentration levels are poor so if i manage a chapter than its an achievement ! I keep costs down by looking in charity shops , many have 3 books for £1 so you cant go wrong with that can you ? Currently reading Tyson Furys autobiography, Behind The Mask - you dont need to know anything about boxing to read it , or even like boxing - its very insightful and i find myself going back a few pages and reading parts again as it resonates with my MH challenges (only diagnosed a year ago, although ive always struggled) . I have found that if i read early in the morning , when im having my first coffee is a good time , although i tend to keep picking the book up each time i pass it , because im nosey and i want to find out more ! Hope today is a good day for you ... be kind to yourself x0

@teddybear12 “Wanting a bit of excitement” is a good way of putting it as all the days seem the same at the moment. But then, when any chance for a bit of excitement appears, I shy away, so I guess I make a bit of a rod for my own back there!
@leecal that’s a good thought exercise to try, I will give that a go
66Mustang said:If anyone has any other suggestions I’d be glad to hear them, I didn’t particularly make this thread to be about me - just wanted to hear some suggestions as to how you get out of mood dips.
ThanksHi, I have found this chat very inspiring. What I have found useful is being compassionate to myself; physically - exercise, massage, warm bath, cup of tea. Mentally- e.g. meditation, watch a funny movie, read an inspiring book. Emotionally-e.g. pet the dog, journal, cook. Relationally- e.g. meet with friends, send a birthday card, play a game. Spiritually-e,g, pray, walk in the woods, help others.I hope this helps. :}1 -
