Hi was wondering if anyone can tell me if me and partner can claim backdated carers element

Hi,Usually they will only backdate the carers element if your partner reported being your carer previously. You also need to be in receipt of either daily living PIP or mid/high rate care DLA. Your partner must also not be claiming the LCWRA element for theirself.0

Hi Thankyou for replying I am in receipt of pip and lcwra. I was awarded pip in December 2021 but started claim in December 2020 so got all that backdated it took a year to get pip. Me and my partner was together when I first claimed for pip in 2020 but split up in July 2021 then got back together in January 2022 was wondering while we was together could I claim for backdating of carers element when we was together0

You can't claim it, only your partner. As advise though, if your partner didn't report being your carer then it may not be possible to have it backdated. It will only usually be awarded from the assessment period in which the changes took place.
