Good morning @Paulwillows and welcome to the online community, how are you this morning?
Thank you for posting your first thread, I hope you have navigated the community without issue so far, and I look forward to hopefully seeing you get involved more across the site.
I found the below information over on this Citizens Advice page, hopefully it can be of use to you:When you reach State Pension age, the DWP should stop your ESA automatically. If they don't stop your ESA, contact them and make sure they know you've reached State Pension age.
You can check your State Pension age on GOV.UK.Whether this applies to just the person claiming or anybody in the household I'm not sure. Just to clarify, your partner is claiming contribution based ESA and isn't currently getting state pension?
I have included below a few of the pages I’d recommend having a look through to get used to the online community:
- The virtual coffee lounge which is one of our categories, in which we play games and talk about general subjects such as hobbies and interests
- The recent discussions page, which shows an overview of everything happening across the community
- The categories page, which shows a full list of discussion groups on the community
If you have any questions at all then don’t hesitate to ask.

If their ESA is contribution based only then your SP will not have any impact. They are separate claims for separate people.
Are either of you claiming any other benefits?1 -
Yes I claim carers allowance for my partner and my partner is on the support group of esa0
