Boredom

Oh no, haha @66Mustang. Yes, maybe you could claim that! Or you could make it easier for yourself by using things as @leeCal has suggested.
I am sure you will get there in time. It is a really positive sign that it is something you loved doing0 -
Yes @66Mustang, I have read some about the Romans and there’s some good programmes on BBC iPlayer about them, but I’m more into the Middle Ages.0
-
I have a long list of jobs that need jobbing, so if you all have nothing planned........2
-
What about learning some more cooking @66Mustang
There's nothing wrong with having a go at arfix again - you can get some good cars in the range now. xx1 -
I used to love lego and colouring books1

I'm the same with days seeming to last forever, but looking back, weeks & months seem to have passed in a flash!
There are plenty of boredom reduction techniques, but it depends what you're restricted by...lack of space, lack of storage, lack of garden, lack of dexterity, lack of money, lack of focus, lack of patience, etc, etc...
Sounds like Lego might be a good idea for you, if you've got the space and funds for a large kit to keep you occupied over a long time. (9000 piece Colosseum perhaps!) They do small car kits, but they can be completed in a matter of hours, so not a great cost to time ratio. You can also dismantle Lego sets to sell online to recoup some of the costs at a later date.
Not sure if you watch much new TV...the latest series of Inside the Factory XL is really interesting and without triggers (for me at least). Can be watched on iPlayer during the day. I find programmes like Garden Rescue & Antiques Roadtrip can pass an hour each day as well.
Maybe a games console could help you pass some time? I spend about 15-30 mins playing most mornings myself.
Jigsaws can be a useful indoor time-waster, though better for winter when you can't get outside. If I had a garden, I'd spend a lot more time outside... Just sitting out there would get a bit boring for me, but pottering around weeding or deadheading etc can fill time as well as the fresh air and green colours being great for the mind.
Do you have any hobbies at the moment that could possibly be expanded somehow? Maybe into a collection of something...you can spend time learning more about the subject and looking for specific items for example. Doesn't have to be anything big or expensive.
I've spent most of this year at home as you know, often in considerable discomfort, and have had to try and find new ways to occupy my time regularly. The inspiration for those has often appeared from other sources, without specifically looking for it...so hopefully you'll find a spark of inspiration eventually.

Can you get lego colouring books yet @janer1967? Pairing them together sounds fab0

Hi @66Mustang, the life is usually keeping me very busy so I get bored very rare.
However, when I am free from my parenting responsibilities, I usually fulfil my time with creativity.
In the past, during winter months I did lots of craft then gave everything away for free.
Recently, I write poems ( in English and in my native language).
I decided to get them all into ebooks.
I use canva application for creating poetry books.
I also wrote a short story about my live from the time I got my health problems.
On top of everything, I read a lot on regular bases, I watch movies on Netflix.
I also tried acrylic painting on real canvas.
Over spring time, I signed for street photography course and enjoyed the challenges set up by tutor.
I am trying to use very single minute of my life to do something. I do not like to waste time in general.
I have a desire for life.
Off course, I have days when I relax and do nothing or pick up on a sleeping. But, then at least, I look for new interesting accounts to follow on Instagram to see what others people do.
There is some much you can do those days in home/from home as long as you have an access to the internet.
I can easily create a list of at least 50 things do to from home. I tried really almost anything to fulfil the time over the last 8 years.
You can do really a lot.
Please let me know what did you found the most interesting and how did you filled your days over the last few years (especially last 3 years)? I am quite keen to know.

My parents used to always say to me "only boring people get bored" and it really affected me and it was only after my ADHD diagnosis I realised why I felt 'bored' so often. When I get bored now I still feel terribly guilty and shame for it and that phrase comes into my head
That being said I often feel bored Quite often I sit and have this feeling that I've "completed the internet" (because I have a group of sites I go on and check and when there's nothing left to read I have nothing left to do). That bored feeling is difficult but I notice that the more I focus on it, the more it sticks around. So even if I try and do another activity such as play a game I'm still thinking how bored I am. The best thing I've found is distracting my brain and continuing as normal. So I'll put on music I can't help but sing along to so I can't be thinking how bored I am and then continue my usual routine.
When you have trouble leaving the house and socialising it's difficult not to get bored. I'm lucky that I do enjoy my own company so that's a bonus.
My absolute best advice, as well as the music, is to give yourself a boring and mundane task to do. Wash up, organise a book shelf, sort our your laptop files, you will very quickly find something more fun to do
Actually feeling bored is really normal, apparently even more so for neuro-diverse people as we're naturally dopamine seeking

@L_Volunteer no don't think so I should have put a comma there1
-
I know this will sound strange to some people but I wish I could be bored I am mainly tired to much to do and not enough hours in the day0
-
That doesn't sound strange I understand what you mean. I hope you get some down time soon @pinklady250
-
Thank you all for all the posts since I last checked0
-
Are you still feeling bored @66Mustang or over whelmed ha ha - the temps will be better next week so hopefully some nice longer walks for you x0
-
Morning, what about some voluntary work? I don't know what you can and can't do, but there must be something out there.
Is there any websites that could help you research.1 -
Ooh. What kind of treats @66Mustang? I'll live vicariously through you
Volunteering is a great suggestion @lovegrandchildren4! There are lots of websites out there that show available volunteering opportunities, such as do-it.org0 -
@lovegrandchildren4 thank you for the suggestion@Tori_Scope I’m getting a bottle of Japanese whisky and some nice coffee beans.0
-
Sounds good @66Mustang! Maybe combine them and make an Irish (or Japanese?) Coffee?1
