I was diagnosed with cancer in 2012 on my left tonsil in my throat and has 35 radiotherapys and 5 chemos . due to the 35 radiotherapys , this ruined my life as eventually althe scar tissues hardened through the years .To cut a long story short , I have been through hell and back , and today 2022 I have no voice box , I am a Layngectomy , as my voice box was removed and I cannot speak . Also my jaw opening is limited to opening 2 inches if that ,and I cannot eat I a on a liquid diet . I had found out just through a friend that I could claim for LCWRA as I have been on ESA for many years and I am getting PIP . I cannot understand why I was never informed by the government about the LCWRA , is this something hey keep as a secret , so people cannot claim what they are due. I think it is a scandal and a disgrace !!!!! . I have heard from people that you can get backdated pay on LCWRA , but I wonder is this JUST MONTHS BACK DATED ,OR YEARS , SINCE MY ILLNESS IN 2012 ???? . I have sent all my medical papers showing them proof of all my surgeries , skin grafts etc that I have had through the years from 2012 till now . I got a reply , that said they should owe me money , but if this is very little can I contest it I wonder ? . I am annoyed the way the government treat people , as in not giving people what they are due , and not telling me about the LCWRA . I have heard that people have got large claims as in thousands , back dated from years back , but I do not know wether this is just talk or true . It is the principle here of being ripped off by a corrupt government , as usual , not giving full information of what people are really due .

LCWRA is part of Universal Credit. You said you're claiming ESA and PIP. If you're in the Support Group for ESA then this is the same as LCWRA.Which group are you in for ESA and how much do you receive every fortnight for ESA? £117.60/week (£235.20/fortnight) is contributions based. Anymore than this then at least part of your ESA is Income Related.Do you live alone or with a partner?0

If you were in ESA Group and told them about it when you claimed UC the LCWRA element should be added to your UC automatically but it can take more than the first month for them to sort it out while they get the necessary information from ESA.
The LCWRA element is part of UC. You can’t get any LCWRA element prior to claiming UC. You were getting the Support Group component for being treated as having LCWRA in your ESA payments, that’s what meaning in the ESA Support Group means.0 -
You said you've recently claimed UC, what date exactly was that please? Sorry but i can't give any advice without all the information. Was your ESA part contributions based?Edit to add, cross posted with calcotti and didn't see her reply before i commented.0
