I was assessed for limited capability some time in April and my conditions have been ongoing for years restricting me from work which is what I explained to uc. I was awarded my first payment in may. Am I entitled to a back payment from when I opened my claim in January?

If you reported the health condition when you started the claim in January then the LCWR or LCWRA status will be backdated to the start of the claim.
If you have been found to have LCW this carries no extra money.
If you have been found to have LCWRA this carries extra money but it is only payable from the fourth month.

@calcotti It says on my claim that both my claim and LCWRA started on the 18th of January but I only started receiving my lcwra in may after my assessment in April. I had a call today saying I’m not entitled to a back pay? It makes no sense as after my assessment in April the woman that completed it said I should get back paid..0

If the LCWRA element started from 18th January then your waiting period is as follows... Jan/Feb, Feb/March, March/April.. LCWRA starts from 18th April to 17th May and first payment would have been 18th May. No LCWRA element is owed because it's not paid at all during the waiting period.kacosta15 said:It makes no sense as after my assessment in April the woman that completed it said I should get back paid..0
