I applied for Pip in the middle of July, had my assessment at the end of September, had a text to say the report had been received the following week and on Friday had a text to say I had been awarded Pip.  It had been a fairly smooth and quick process for me.... Lucky I know.  As for requesting a copy of the report, that is a personal choice.  I didn't want the stress of knowing, but I can see why people want to know what they have been scored. Good luck with everything.

@Alieee28 ahh fairly quick for you then! It’s 2 weeks today since assessment so still early for me!

Got my report and I shouldn’t of but at the same time I’m glad I have it’s ver contradictive!! So I’m just preparing for an MR and tribunal if need be. Just don’t have my hopes up now

@orangefresh yeah I had my report back looks like they have scored me 4 for mobility and 7 for daily living 😑 so no award it looks like! Obviously that could change… but I will go for MR if need be.

I should have definitely scored more than that.. he’s ticked boxes of 0 points and then contradicts what he has ticked to what he has said.. which makes no sense at all! Hopefully the DM picks up on it xxx

It sounds like the outcome is really frustrating for you @Floydiee1995. I can hear how this would be difficult for you.

How are you feeling about the idea of maybe needing to go for MR at the moment? We are here for you and listening to you if you would like to share more with us.

Please don't hesitate to let us know if we can do anything to support you. We are all here for you and listening to you  :)

@L_Volunteer yeah I’m not too good at the minute. Obviously I can see people on the forum say not to go with that as it can change but I just feel like that’s going to be the DM decision. I can’t stress just got to be positive. It’s just infuriating that the report is so contradicting saying I need this and that but not scoring me any points even though they state (in line with the descriptors) I struggle with an activity!

I don’t really have no clue about the ME process so don’t really know what to do if that is the outcome and I am not awarded.

Citizens Advice have some information about Mandatory Reconsiderations on their website @Floydiee1995, which you might find helpful to read if you want to put your mind at ease a little.

    How are you feeling today?

@Floydiee1995 it is really is an awful feeling fully sympathise with you. Try keep your mind occupied. I requested a copy of my report not long before you I don’t think. And I had a message this morning saying a decision has not yet been made. I am also in the same situation with many contradictions. They have stated what I struggle with and what I can’t do but then said in descriptors I don’t need any support with anything. Xx

@orangefresh yeah same as me! The advisor on the phone said I haven’t been awarded and letter is in the post and was sent on Saturday but highly recommended I appeal it so that’s what I’m going to do. Had a letter arrive today saying they haven’t made there decision but with postal strikes I reckon I won’t get my dismissal letter till tomorrow or Thursday! It’s awful but I will fight it xx

@orangefresh I have also now caved and asked for a copy! Although my cousin who came with me to the f2f assessment said he would read it and not tell me anything unless it was completely against something we said! Knowing me I can be a little impatient so probably will read it!

I never got a text from them to say they recieved my letter! Did you? I phoned yesterday and asked as had the assessment a week ago today and they said they got it last week! Maybe it’s a select few that get the text messages.

This is my second time applying and first had a telephone assessment and thought she was lovely and understanding and reassured me a lot! Absolutely disgusted when it came through there was so many lies! That’s why at the face to face this time I took my cousin (my second carer with me)! So the horror stories are very real and that’s what’s scaring me again!

Wish you all the best of luck and hope you get awarded what you need xx
I have also unfortunately experienced an assessment over the phone to then get the report only to find out that there was a lot of errors (lies) so have had to do a face to face appointment taking a family member with me.I think it is disgraceful to be hearing and reading of so many people having gone through the same experience. How do they get away with this? And why are they getting away with it?

Assessors are not medically nor are required to be medically trained because PIP is not based on a diagnoses or medical condition. All they care about are whether you get enough points for the appropriate descriptors. They don't write word for word everything that is said during the assessment unless it affects your points. I would never advise getting a report because it won't really affect anything until the actual official letter is received and causes undue stress.

The only reason it seems "so many people have gone through the same experience" is because those many people who have successful applications don`t always broadcast that fact on here.
If all you read is negativity, then all you will feel is negativity.
It`s akin to reading reviews online for an item you want to purchase; if only negative expierences are submitted, it will influence your decision on whether to buy or not.

The majority of PIP claimants who have a bad experience get refused because are not actually eligible, not because the assessors are out to get them. Bad things do of cause happen but it isn't the majority. Most people who have good experiences don't tend to discuss it on the internet.

I was not actually refused,my experience was that the person doing my assessment claimed differently to my answers, the facts were incorrect It was a telephone appointment and they were letting the dog in the garden, then letting the dog back in and more.
Yes I agree with you that it will only be the people that have had a bad experience will more often than not express this online but that's to be expected.

What you are saying is that you said 'a, b, c' and the Assessor only noted c, which when taken out of 'a, b, c' gives a totally different representation and meaning of what you actually said or meant. Nobody can argue with that, that goes on.

I rang for a copy of my assessment report, the chirpy chap at DWP (without prompting) after I told him I wanted my report was 'You want to do a Mandatory Reconsideration'.

When you have those assessments the process isn't there for them to write what you said word for word. It's for them to gather more evidence to support your claim. They then write the report which is their opinion based on everything you said during the assessment as well as everything you wrote in the form and any extra evidence you sent.
