Am I missing something?...new style esa support group is not means tested so you can have savings above £16000. I assume if your 50 and have a partner and you both have been working all your life you might have savings beyond this. One of you becomes so unwell you can no longer work, in the new proposals the support group would be abolished but you would be able to claim the new unemployment insurance for a limited time then it you can't work you loose it and you would be assessed for UC, which you can't get because you've worked hard and saved for your future. Then if you don't meet the criteria for PIP you get what?
So you pay your NI all your life and get nothing for it. I must be missing something we can't be penalised for saving whilst we are working it doesn't make any sense. Can someone explain if I'm right or if I'm missing reading it

I summarised below with my opinion as well. LCWRA has no changes on descriptors, so that reassessment if it happens will be the same as normal. But they are planning to remove the WCA, so in the longer term will be changes to who is eligible for what they now call the health payment (LCWRA). Details are in the post I made below.

Well message to Labour.
I have a small hobby selling crafted items online. This is down as self employment with UC. However after today I am not prepared to take the gamble any longer that this could be used against me at reassessment. So I am going to put a stop to it. It's not enough to be classed as work but its a small something.
I do not claim PIP because I am borderline and haven't done so to avoid the stress. However I am going to put a claim in.
I am also a lifelong Labour voter and will never vote for you again.
Just to let you know what you have achieved today!

unfortunately for me I was diagnosed years ago with ME and fibromyalgia amongst other things. But I no longer have a specialist as there’s no treatment or cure. I’m just give muscle relaxers painkillers anti depressants among other strong medications. My pharmacist couldn’t believe what I take . But it’s all my GP can offer . Yet I’m constantly reviewed and usually need to fight . My conditions are lifelong so I don’t know why they keep assessing me

YouTube has a good video that breaks it down. Noah bear nyle .

For what its worth a friend of mine has told me there is a fair amount of opposition to the cuts, many people consider 6 billion by end of parliament as not a lot of money for the government, and recognise the harm this will cause. Things like triple lock on pensions and the bail out of thames water are costing far more money, so people are working out the nastiness behind this. People have also started talking about the proposed 2% 10million plus wealth tax that would raise 24 billion a year, its the gossip of an entire office today. Population is going to end up split on it.

New claimants 2026 does this mean people who are ill or disabled will be after that or before?

Are we going to be reviewed asper our existing due dates for PIP, or do you think they will do them early? My review is in 10 years.

I agree. It’s ok saying you need 4 point on one descriptor but the process is fraudulent. I now that’s a strong statement to make but it’s happened to me every time . And it’s not the dwp but Atos etc. either twist my words or ignore all evidence. First assessor zero points and I fought them for two years. Last assessor asked me have I studied my form that by this time was about two years old. I said no as I can tell the truth. She then asked me 2 point questions so I got highest but no 4 plus . Because I was happy with my award for care I didn’t appeal it but it’s something in future I’ll have to check and record myself

I sorry worried33. I still can't understand or see and answer to my question. Will new style ESA support group payment be taken away? And if you don't qualify for UC you get nothing else

Also forgot to mention, the daily living component restrictions to 4 point minimum will certainly have a knock on effect for carers allowance. And will be another loss. If we are not eligible for daily living because of the ridiculous 4 points ratio, then the people who care for us on carers allowance will lose their money too.
Please oppose the consultations in the green paper, targetting the disabled is abysmal and the lowest of lows.

If you received a 10yr award, i very much doubt you'll be reviewed for a long long time

well said . I hope you get enhanced for both . You can wave hello to Kendall in your new car as she leaves parliament

Its a concerning time for everyone.
I have only just started the WCA getting Fit Notes process. Hope to get my 2nd one on Thursday. I'm almost 64, worked most of my adult life and volunteered. I cannot retire until I'm 67 so another 3 years but I'm still being pushed as I am unemployed now. My health has got worse over the years and new conditions added including osteoarthritis and I've had two sudden silent angina attacks in the past two weeks (was in hospital yesterday, never had heart issues before). I'm also in hypertension crises.
If the WCA assesment questions are going to be on a par with PIP but even harder I'm not sure I'll get very far. I live alone so I have to do everything myself no matter how it affects me . Then if I am awarded LRWCA I'll likely get a much lower rate.
What an absolute crime against us all.

Hi all
The green paper states that any change to PIP descriptors is a complex process that will take a long time, and will only be implemented after all currently suggested reforms are. A lot of these reforms are due in 2028-2029. Bear in mind we’re also due another general election 2029 and a lot can change in a few years, government direction changes, policies change, European law changes etc.The biggest impact INITIALLY is by far and large on NEW claimants. Effects on existing claimants will be based on
- if the law has passed/guidance fully implemented at the time of your re-assessment
Until such law(s) passes, you are reassessed on current rulesThe 4 point rule is the more pressing issue to be concerned with, and NOT a change to descriptors.
By the governments own admission today, changes to descriptors will be looked at AFTER ALL THIS HAS BEEN SORTED….. and lots of these changes, by the governments own timelines, will take YEARS to implement - that’s if they aren’t watered down.
When this starts getting into the nitty gritty and debated in the House of Commons/ Lords, that’s when there’s a chance that safeguards/substantial risk amendments will likely start creeping in.
What I can say is NONE of this has changed today or tomorrow so please try and calm your anxiety - we are all in this together and we will work through our challenges together!

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, but can anyone confirm the correct wording for my award (group) please as I'm never sure?
I was originally on incapacity benefit since 2004 and was moved to ESA around 2013 I think and placed in the support group. From 2004 DLA and then pip and an ongoing award for pip given in 2019 and says "will be looked at 2029" enhanced for living and mobility. I remember something about a top up for esa, so can anyone tell from my rates exactly what mine is called, and dont think any of it is CB based?
ESA £159.05 per week
Basic - £90.50
Support group - £47.70
Premium? - £20.85
pip - £184.30 per week
enhanced living - £108.55
enhanced mobility - £75.55
I've not had my migration letter yet, but I dont understand for certain what all different acronyms are.
Thank you.
