The Poll Tax hit every adult in the country. Tory MPs couldn't sell it to the electorate. The Cabinet were concerned. Even so, Thatcher was in power for three more years. It took another issue to bring her down without the rest of the Government. Whilst I don't think Reeves, Starmer, and Kendall have thought through the economic impact of the cuts, backbenchers seem untroubled and the general public couldn't give a damn.

Attacking triple lock would be a Poll Tax moment! It would be WFA on steroids.
I'm fearful on benefit changes for people outside working-age. Will they make DLA and AA tougher to claim? I also wonder whether prescription charges, etc will be payable by all irrespective of age except for those on UC.

The media has asked some very good questions, seen Kendall being asked if she thinks people under 22 cant become ill. Of course she did her usual but at least the question got asked.

Yeah the poll tax had riots, this is nowhere near the same pressure sadly.

I can no longer sleep at night due to the anxiety this is causing me. It really does feel like hatred and discrimination. Easy targets always get hit.

There is no doubt that austerity politics as it have wounded the poor and vulnerable since 2010 is outside the Jewish and Christian tradition.

Thankyou for this information I'm due for a pip review January 2027 so I'm hoping I still pass the review as I get Two parts the Standard daily living part and the enhanced mobility part aswell ....

Well - the national living minimum wage is now £12.21 per hour
So unless the government wants to go down the route of classing disabled as not entitled to that much - that works out at £488 per week !

I’m just catching up on this capitulation but it’s beyond countenance. Saying he likes and respects Trump.. Mark Carney has it right plus Ed Davies. Who did we elect??

I got this from macmillan, A green paper has been published which sets out what the government intends to change. A consultation is now open and the public and organisations have until June 2025 to respond and provide feedback on the proposed changes. The proposals will then need to go through parliament and primary legislation will be written to enact the changes. The changes are proposed to come into effect in November 2026 for Personal Independence Payment and 2028 for changes to sickness benefits.

The problem with protesting now is that there is a risk of being arrested . I wouldn't go protest I'd be petrified of being arrested .

Also there's a risk of being attacked. The government and their "arbeit macht frei" rhetoric has caused Anti disability sentiment in the country. Look at what happened in Exeter. Protesters getting chairs and bangers thrown at them!
I emailed Ellen Clifford yesterday to wish her luck for tomorrow. Due to living in a care home, i can't attend any protests.
