Hi there. Will a lodger effect my Universal Credit? I have just migrated over from ESA. I was in the support group. I pay a mortgage but don’t claim mortgage support. I will not be able to live without PIP and LWC. Trying to find a solution to this dire situation. I wouldn’t be related to them.

Hi,
This is one situation where UC is actually better than legacy benefits were. Taking in a lodger does not affect UC. The rent you get from them is not counted as income.

I don’t know how to reply to a comment on here. But many thanks for some good news.

I need to know will fit note to be scrapped after 2028?

Fit notes aren't being scrapped.
The WCA assessment is likely to be scrapped. And we will only have the PIP assessment instead. But that isn't set in stone yet, and it is more than 3 years away.

Your question of, "Can I work if I am in lcwra?" would soon become something of the past, as LCWRA itself is about to vanish.

Please remember these changes are not set in stone yet.
Existing LCWRA claimants will not be moved to PIP. Currently the WCA is set to be scrapped in 2028/2029. After that, you would need pass the PIP assessment to get the Health Element of UC, which replaces LCWRA.
However, a lot can change in 3 years. We might not even have the same party in government by then.
People with sleep apnoea won't automatically qualify for PIP. They will still need to meet the criteria for the descriptors. The PIP descriptors are also expected to change. So at this point it is impossible to say exactly what they will be then.
Yes, the 4 points rule is for PIP Daily Living part. The Mobility part is not affected.
