A very interesting article from the Guardian about the ACTUAL effect of mental health on society, challenging Wes Streetings woeful, harmful pro "welfare reforms" drival, that he is feeding to the MSM.

Two MPs openly back DWP benefit cuts – yet sit on the parliamentary group for ME/CFS

The Labour MPs in question are one freshly elected Exeter MP Steve Race, and Gen Z Labour right newcomer MP for York Outer, Luke Charters.

@jul1aorways, thank you. I loved your “sermon” and I honestly hope you keep going😊. We need voices like yours that cut through the noise and lift others up.

Your message reminded me again of what it means to empower ourselves. Because let’s call it what it is. This so-called “biggest shake-up to welfare in a generation”(as liebour keeps banging )isn’t about support. It’s about control, cuts, and silencing the most vulnerable.

The Labour trio – Starmer, Kendall, Reeves have clearly decided we’re easy prey. That we’re weak, silent, and won’t push back. But … Boy!! they’ve got it completely wrong. We are strong. We are united. And we are not going to sit back and let them rip away our rights.

I believe we can tear these damaging proposals to pieces. Then rebuild something that works – something bespoke, inclusive, accessible, rights-based, and genuinely centred around people’s lived experiences. A system that actually honours the Equality Act and protects those it claims to serve.
Right now, what they’ve put forward is the complete opposite. I’ve gone through their reasoning. It’s paper-thin and full of contradictions.

The fact that they scrapped the WCA just because the welfare bill is rising? That’s not reform. That’s reckless and illogical. Here’s what it feels like, to me anyways!!. Imagine a patient in intensive care who is finally showing signs of recovery. Then imagine doctors withdrawing life support, not because it’s the right medical call, but because it costs the NHS £1,621.16 a day. They call it “moral.” Let’s be clear – that’s choosing to let someone die to balance the books.
That’s what this proposal is doing to disabled people. And it’s unacceptable.

But I truly believe we can turn the tide. If we all speak up in this consultation, if we show up with facts, experience, and solidarity, we can block this. Parliament must be given no space to push these proposals through.
    That’s how I see it.

    And

I believe, with everything in me, that we can win this.

Wow, 😮 What you've had to say is so insightful, powerful and most of all positive!!

Thank you for what you've said about my "sermon" lol. That's great, it really is. 😊

Don't worry about me!! I shall keep going. 👍 Make no mistake. I'm not giving in to evil, narcissistic low lives like them. 😡 THEY'RE NOT WORTH IT!

You look as though you intend to fight back, whatever happens, for as long as it ever takes, the same as me. Neither you or I or anyone else who is disabled should allow them to get away with this outrage.

We must all remember that we are EVERYTHING they are not. I think it takes a unique kind of courage and resilience just to get through each day with our health conditions before we even start on what we have to do to cope with the appalling and completely undeserved treatment that we have to endure.

I actually think that they see our integrity and great determination and gaslight us to try to psychologically beat it out of us. They know that we have the all the qualities they will never be capable of.

We have right on our side and know there are more holes in their argument than a sieve. 😁 I think we can do this from a position of strength 💪 as long as we believe in ourselves and continue to see them for the paper tigers they are.

Nothing about these proposals is genuine but our argument is, however they try to misrepresent us to the public.

We and our advocates are ready for them. They can only completely win if they can demoralise and divide us. There is so much that can be gained, we already know no we can't possibly afford to lose. That MUST spur us on to do whatever we can, whatever they throw at us. 👌

Many thanks for your kind words 🙏🏽. You’re absolutely spot on 👏👏

your message really resonates with mine💪🏽💪🏽. I admire your strength and determination, and together, we can make sure they don’t get away with this. ✌️

Let us all Keep fighting the good fight! ⚖️

Thank you for your very complementary and empowering reply!👌 🤗

It's put a big smile on my face and given me a real boost!! 💪 Thank you. 🙏

We both really seem to be on the right page, fighting back for us is the ONLY option, as far as we are both concerned. Your courage and determination is really inspiring. There's no doubt about it, WE'VE GOT THIS! 🙌🙌🙌

Of course, we will encourage and support each other but most importantly, to continue to empower other disabled people here who have been pitched into the sheer horror of what will happen to their lives, if these proposals go through.

The biggest challenge is to break through the government's depraved rhetoric on this to give them hope, support them as people and to point them in the right direction for practical support, so they can make a difference too. Hopefully that sort of empowerment will then go on encourage them to help others in the same way. 🤞💪

We do need to fight them and NEVER give up that fight whatever happens!! 😊

Again, @jul1aorways,Thank you! This is so, so spot on, and all I hear are the cries of our fellow members. I believe the only thing we can do is fight … fight, fight, fight - putting all our fears and speculations aside.
I don’t want to find myself in the future, looking back and thinking that I/we could have made a change, but allowed fear to silence us.
Another thought which popped in my racing mind:I know you’ve pointed me towards organisations like DPAC, but I truly wish there was someone here on the SCOPE forum with legal knowledge -like a welfare rights officer or someone of that calibre who could compile a counter proposal, perhaps several thousand pages long, with real comments(from this thread )that align our points to the relevant laws. If we could respond to this consultation in such an informed and structured legal way, it would be so impactful alongside our individual responses. All of this may sound like a dream, but this is how badly I want to hold this government accountable for the distress they’ve caused to so many.
But whatever happens, like you, I want to see this through to the end.
    Best wishes Juls !✌️

Again, thank you. 😊 @noonebelieves Fellow members are on my mind too, you read some truly heart rending posts on this thread and around the community. 😢

I've always thought that I don't know what's worse. Being so badly treated yourself or to see it done to others. I don't think that there is anything between them, they are both just as bad. 🥺

You are absolutely spot on yourself when you say that you didn't want to look back and regret not doing your very best to try to make our situation better. You really have to do your utmost even though success looks so difficult, we owe that much to our future selves.

Such low lives, as in the government, really push the culture of fear, hoping it will crush our spirit, therefore any dissent. They think that we are a push over but I think that they are going to find they have bitten off more than they could chew!! ✊

I know that what you thought of isn't at all likely to happen but it's a great dream to have isn't it! 🤔👌

Wouldn't it be amazing to be able to hold this government to account for their despicable proposals. However, they are making themselves so enormously unpopular with this and in so many other ways with the ordinary people of this country that I think that their Day of Reckoning is GOING to happen and I'm convinced that their fall will be a spectacular one, compared to previous governments.

Their kind seem to have a way of causing a massive backlash by their enemies and they end up getting the situation they most deserve happening to them. Remember, that loss of face and status really matter to the skin deep, like themselves. The only thing is that it always seems to take too long to happen! 🙄

We will see this all through to it's conclusion and way beyond. I'm sure of that. 😊

I take great satisfaction in my ability to keep going, as I've done for years now, as I know that they will hate someone whose disabled being so determined to live life in the best way they can. I know they would really detest it so it gives me a lot of pleasure!! 😁

The aim is to do the exact opposite of what they want us do, I'm sure you'll agree. 😎

Best Wishes to you too and take care! 😃

    Hi @Tori_Scope,

    Good Morning
That sounds fantastic. Thanks for letting me/us know.I hope Scope might’ve kept a record of all the MPs who attended the event.
It might be a big ask, but will Will individual members be contacted directly if their constituency MP attended the event?
Either way, this is excellent news, and it’s so encouraging to hear that our personal emails are reaching parliamentarians-exactly where they need to go.

Many thanks for all the brilliant work Scope is doing behind the scenes.👏👏

As always, please keep us updated. We’re right behind you in all your efforts.
Best Wishes & Have a great day!

    @jul1aorways

I just wanted to thank you for your excellent support in standing up against these cuts…whatever it takes. Your replies to me here, and your touching story in the main Green Paper thread, are so powerful and inspiring.I’ve just read your post in the green paper thread -absolutely brilliant and empowering !

I’m also very grateful for all your kind credits and compliments to me on the Green Paper proposal page. But honestly, I don’t feel I deserve any of them until we win this battle to uphold the rights of all our disabled community, including you, me and all our families and children.

Sorry I haven’t been able to contribute this morning. After a long day yesterday, I had a fall down the stairs and had to visit A and E-I may have damaged a muscle or tendon in my left shoulder , so I’ve been unable to contribute . I’ll definitely be joining in again soon.

In the meantime, I’m slowly working through the government’s Green Paper(Health permitting)and trying to untangle some of the deceptive parts of their proposal. That said, I’m really glad to see the key issues that commonly affect many are already being discussed. As you rightly said, we have a vital role in empowering and motivating others and it’s painfully clear how much harm these proposals are already causing in our lives and across the community. Some of the stories shared truly pierce the heart.

Let’s continue to empower our members to stand against these devastating benefit cuts by responding to the Labour government’s ‘Pathways to Work’ Green Paper consultation.

    I’ll join you there soon!

Thank you for everything, it means a lot to me !

    Best Wishes

I’m sorry to hear about the struggles you’ve been through, but I love the ending of your post. It’s so empowering and refreshing to hear. Yes, the government is in for a surprise…they’ve completely underestimated our power and what we can achieve in solidarity.

    Please take care of yourself.

    Best wishes!

Please if you can go on to change petition site ,Richard Burgon Mp has got a petition against the cuts. If you tickna box your name won't be on it . The more we stand together. Hopefully something will be done.

Thanks for the kind words! It's campaigners like you that make all the difference 💜

I don't think we have capacity to reach out to individual members to let them know, unfortunately. And I've been told I can't share a list of which MPs attended. But, if you ask me, I should be able to let you know if your MP went. You can privately message me on here, saying who your MP is, or email campaigns@scope.org.uk. Some MPs have been meeting with us separately, too, which is worth remembering 🙂

    Hi @Grumpy1314,

I completely understand your feelings … it really does feel like this government has dragged us back to the dark ages with its harmful attitudes and policies , targeting the most vulnerable and disabled people in our communities.

But I believe that when we all stand together in solidarity, we can push back against these brutal proposals. No one should be forced into poverty in a country like the UK. We all deserve to have our rights upheld and to live in a fair, democratic, and inclusive society.

Anything that threatens those values must be and can be challenged. There is so much hope!

We’re all standing with you. Wishing you a lovely day!

    Best wishes

Many thanks for reaching out and checking on me, @Holly_Scope.

I truly appreciate your kind words. Although I’m still in pain and relying on strong medication and ice packs, I’m very grateful there are no fractures.

I’m genuinely so overwhelmed by the kindness and support I’ve received from our community ❤️ it’s helping me on the road to recovery. I’m in good hands😊

Please keep up the excellent work you’re doing behind the scenes to uphold our rights, especially in the face of these draconian government proposals.

Thank you again, and I hope you have a wonderful day.
