Hi @sarah_lea12 from what I've seen when completing the PIP form and how your disability effects you, it may be worth adding anything that can support your claim, such as aids, treatments, etc.

An example I've seen on here regarding hearing aids, was that it benefited a persons claim to share they required this aid for their points.

I'm sure there will be members here that have had similar questions, so hopefully they'll see this and add their advice. ☺️

    Best wishes,

Thank you Holly , I have a few aids from NHS adult social care , I have a bath hoist remote control . I do wear hearing aids in both ears , and I have other aids to help other issues .

My claim is not due to be reviewed until 2027, but it doesn’t represent me now living in a Supported Living Flat, having to use a stairlift, stools to cook, wash, shower and shave sat down, grab rails, a frame around the toilet alongside a walking stick inside and outside of the house.

Thanks you sound like me then , I haven't got a stair lift , but its recommended and I am waiting for the council grants department to come next week to assess the house , holes in floors black mould on walls , I have the grab handles and the raised toilet seat with frame and as the toilet is upstairs they brought me a commode , so my needs are very much changed from my first award .

I'm so nervous because if i lose daily living i lose my house and i don't know what to do about keeping the house , its in such bad repair and we feel we are paying for it and not going to get anything out of it . Its such a stressful time for all of us .

I’m scared that they will change things and I’ll end up on the street or commuting suicide.

It sounds like your council have got you in truly shocking housing conditions 🥲 that’s not good at all. I hope they can change things around.

Im fortunate I live in a small flat, I always keep my windows open on the ventilation gaps. Every so often I’ll open all the windows to get fresh air in. Most days I sit in semi darkness with the blinds closed to keep the heat in.
I’ve had many repairs done since August when I took over the tenancy, but the biggest repair is they have to rip out my entire staircase to repair it! It’s built out of MDF! But to do this, they have to take out my stairlift and store it in my living room, then build the staircase, then me have my carpet fitter put the carpets down before my stairlift can be refitted! Absolute nightmare to say the least.

I’m fortunate I’m in the Support Group based on income on ESA, I’m also on Universal Credit which pays my Rent then on the higher level of PIP for both kinds.

If you open the curtains on a sunny day it heats your room I do it in the bedroom and it heats it all up . My house is a mortgaged property and is interest only ending in 2036 , we will be 71 and 72 then , its so mixed up , because we need the house repaired i need a stairlift and low level shower, if we accept the grant it is secured on the house for ten years then it is written off , but because of the benefits changes we just don't know which way to turn , and we also claim support for mortgage interest , and if we had a repayment mortgage the smi would be written off too at the end of the mortgage term ,if we knew what was happening with the benefits we could plan ahead , but its like we are in limbo.

Part of us say accept the grant if offered , get the house up to standard and try to put the house back onto repayment or whatever is on offer , we are just trying to do what is best and right now we are stuck not knowing what lies ahead like everyone of us.

My PIP review was this month and award ending next March, but because my change in health and my profound hearing loss I thought it best to do a re-assessment and hopefully get the enhanced daily living this time I have enhanced mobility , so until that is sorted we are just stuck .

I've heard re-assessments are taking months , so what the heck do we do ?

Just me thinking out loud lol

crikey, sounds like your in a true pickle and quandary to say the least. Everything is so up and down with benefits at the moment, I honestly don’t think any of us know where we are at from one moment to the next.

that’s one of the reasons I tend to keep my blinds closed, the size of both the living room and bedroom windows. The flat has poor sound and thermal insulation. Let’s just say so can hear the old ladies toilet downstairs and also her talking and tv to. I’m only 41 but in a flat for someone 20 years older than me.
