A letter from your GP is key supporting evidence. An assessment is supposed to consider all supporting evidence. Yes. They can contact your GP should they have further questions.

I've just sent my re-assessment off yesterday , I ticked yes to sharing my medical evidence, I am really stressed , its going to be a long wait , I heard five months for a decision . I also have the grant people coming today as my house is a health hazard , if offered a grant we are taking it regardless of the dwp decision , its making me ill , so with waiting for another award to be given, living in a house full of damp and rotten floorboards and if the benefits changes go ahead we would lose the house , but what can we do other than accept the grant my health is bad enough and this is all adding to it .
