💯 my feelings too . Both he and Rayner used their working class backgrounds to gain favour , then when they were about to stab the disabled in the back it was we understood as we have a mum, son , brother etc who are disabled, Starmer then used the excuse of his son studying to hide the fact he had left the family home after being so secretive of his children ( Dan Wootton has his own idea regarding this) . I even heard somewhere he bribed his children with a dog should he become PM, he then changed his mind and got them a cat . It’s all typical psychopathic behaviour, use people as stepping stones. As you say he can’t show feeling only try to copy what feelings look like . As for Kendall well she’s just demented in her hatred for the disabled and probably anyone vulnerable.

There might be another organisation locally other than CAB.
In my area we have CAB, Disability Advice Bureau, and Disability Advice Service. As well as a local council officer who helps with benefit claims & forms.

Is there no law centre near you or similar in your local council ? Could you write to your MP as I asked advice from mine and they referred me to someone in my local council. If you definitely can’t get help I would take your time to read it and do research. Even watch some YouTube videos where the questions are explained. Plus get a copy of your medical notes and any supporting evidence.

I'm on a mix of contribution based ESA and lcwra UC....I was thinking of trying to claim pip but I'm just not up to it .... The way it looks at the moment I think I will just stay as I am and I should carry on getting reassessed through the WCA until it's abolishment in 2028 then when the pip assessment takes over ill do it then .... Not only that but alot can change between now and then , I personally think they might give transitional protection to people in my scenario , or some sort of net , as it would just leave people in a terrible position

Hi @Passerby - you can see the initial claim form here:
Seems like this will not fill you with any trepidation! Good for you, & myself & others have seen such terrible info others have received on the forum from Citizens Advice that I wouldn't recommend them.
Yes, PIP assessments are still mainly by phone & you can ask for a phone assessment anyway if you'd struggle with one in person. (Labour want to re-introduce face to face assessments).

It was the government rhetoric last year that made me apply for PIP, in a way hedging my bets & to try and safeguard my Universal Credit for any future changes.
I moved into an adapted flat 2022 and figured it was now my best chance to be successful.
Much to my surprise I sailed through the process, paper based assessment where I was asked 3/4 questions, then told she would recommend Enhanced for both, medium term.
I came off the phone convinced I'd misunderstood, but was awarded Enhanced for both 6 years, which I recently learned is considered a significant award length.
Who knows what will happen in future, but what I do know is currently the money has been so valuable and changed my life.

Yeah stick or twist ain't it , I just got a feeling that they couldn't get away with it , I honestly think there maybe some sort of transitional protection for people in our situation , I think I'll just concentrate on my next wca and try to pass that , then in 2028 have a crack at the pip when it takes over and if I fail take it to tribunal

You've made some very good points there.👌Going back to the first point about softening up the electorate to accept disability cuts, which ended up on a scale never seen before, Labour didn't even mention the disabled in the manifesto before they were elected!!
Everything is done in such a dishonest manner, no wonder they are so hated! 😒
Talking of dishonesty I've discovered that there is speculation of a strong link between the new immigration white paper and welfare green paper.
Unfortunately that speculation makes a lot of sense. Starmer thinks that in keeping the immigrant workforce down that he can employ US in their place!! 😮
The majority of us are not fit to work at all and the smaller number of us that may be able to work need a lot of adjustments to do so and can only work in certain types of less physically demanding jobs. That and with no guarantee of regular attendance due to our ill health conditions.
No wonder they are not bothering with work schemes like Access to Work!! They want to put us in the immigrant's jobs, which we all know are physical ones. We can't wash cars or deliver takeaways!! 😳
What planet do these politicians think we come from! 👾😡

I hope you don't mind me butting in but I would like to make the suggestion of becoming a member of Benefits and Work.
I've been disabled for 21 years now and have been through different organisations for help with filling in the forms and I have found none better than Benefits and Work. Some organisations were good but could not match their highly professional expert advice.
Seriously, I've found them second to none and I've been a member for many years. I'm not trying to outdo your suggestions, just to say that they are such a good option and are worth considering.
They have the advantage that if you can't get out easily, it's all online. There is also no waiting time for an appointment and their disability guides will allow you to fill in the form in your own time, or to suit someone who may be filling it in for you.
They only cost £20.00 a year too. Also, because they rely on members donations, organisations use them too, it means that they are totally independent of government interference which has got to be a good thing!! 😊

Very well said! 👏 Especially as Transitional Protection is such a derisiory amount, very much less than the benefit it replaces. It soon disappears with a few inflationary benefit rises!
