Saw on X - Report from BBC - A leaked memo has said Angela Rayner has proposed tax rises as an alternative to cutting disability benefits. Apologies but I'm not sure how to copy and paste the link.

Yeah me to it's wrong what they are doing, I can't cope with it all it's to much dealing with this rubbish

Just who do the define as too sick and disabled to ever work and to not have to be reassessed?
All they keep banging on about is the welfare bill is too high and cuts need to be made.

It's everyday up and down it's a struggle to switch off from it all as it's just constant worry. It's cruel what they have done. I couldn't watch all her statement as she acting all calm and nice.
Nothing nice about her she just trying to sweeten MPs to get this through.
Gonna have have to try and switch off for abit as I feel totally deflated

Told you that is exactly what he was going to do , reinstate some of the winter fuel allowance , maybe cut the child benefit cap to make the revolt happy ... And then go ahead with the disability cuts , criminal !! .... Not to mention these new snooping laws .... I had to undeclared accounts from years ago , never over 6000 in either or spread out across everything , but I had a terrible gambling addiction caused by my OCD and being closed off from the world. ... Lot of ins and outs and loans from friends and family , would be a nightmare to explain , it would also uncover pay oaks from years ago with exactly the same nightmare 😖 I'm sick of being so scared all the time ... I rung DWP and changed my details the other day .... All went fine , correct payment in correct account but then got a confirmation letter saying
DEAR MR ######
BANK / BUILDING SOCIETY ####
CURRENT ACCOUNT 2018
WE HAVE A ACCOUNT NUMBER AND SORT CODE BUT FOR SECURITY REASONS WE HAVE NOT WROTE THE DETAILS OF THESE ON THIS LETTER
YOUR ALLOWANCE WILL BE PAID INTO THE ABOVE ACCOUNT FROM ##
its worrying as the account that I gave them and now getting money paid into was opened in 2021 so why does it say current account 2018 as a reference even more worrying 2018 is when I closed one of the undeclared accounts.... I'm terrified that they already have them and will want to see them from over 6 years ago .... Or when this annoying begins they will flag up

The stuff coming out about Rayner and Reeves plus the back down of winter payments surely shows pressure has changed minds. There's a long way to go until Nov 26 when it all supposedly kicks in so I do think things will change building up to then. Hopefully 🤞

Just watched her hissing and screaming like some psychopath.... Again all about pip and nothing about people on a mix of cbesa or UC lcwra / or just lcwra ..... Just that they will scrap the WCA , not even a date ..... God knows where that leaves people like me .... Do we just get reassessed with the normal wca ? If it's after the pip changes kick in November 2026 will we still get the WCA or do we get the new pip reassessment ? Just makes you want too end it all doesn't it 😔

No definitely not .... The only thing I can think of is that already have the undeclared accounts either through general data matching or when I changed my details something may of automatically flagged up , and they will be brought up at a standard review or when the snooping starts ....

Have you closed old accounts or are they still opened

Closed one nearly 6 and a half years ago and one nearly five

I thought once closed all the information has gone but that's not the case i just googled it.
Yes, the government can access information from closed bank accounts, particularly HMRC (Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs) and the DWP (Department for Work and Pensions). They may have specific reasons to do so, such as investigating potential tax evasion or fraud, or recovering debts.

Just read about the changes to WFA, good news for pensioners but strange they’ve u turned on the day they’re mentioning a change to pip assessments/ criteria . IMO this could go either of two ways for us. The u turn on WFA could be a way to appease the rebellion regarding disability. I heard a while ago that they couldn’t back down completely over WFA as that would undermine reeves so they may raise the threshold. That seems what they’re doing from what I just read . I don’t know how the MPs could justify voting for cuts to disability benefits as more elderly will be helped . We will still vote them out if they vote for cuts whereas the pensioners from what I’ve read don’t really vote labour .
My other thought is Kendall has suddenly announced a change in the pip assessments/ criteria which I read at the beginning of the cuts announcement was sometime in the future. Could they have brought it forward to change the criteria to make it easier to get a 4 point descriptor? That way there’s no climb down from reeves and Kendall . If they change criteria so the 8 point question will become the 4 point and 4 point question will become a 2 hardly anyone will qualify. That will mean you can’t cook at all , feed yourself or wash yourself anywhere at all . I think the backlash for that would be enormous . But to change it so it’s easier to get 4 points wouldn’t be seen as a climb down. Just my thoughts but I hope it’s something positive 🤞

So the WFA u turn has happened but they're not budging on the cuts, I don't believe they will budge on this as it's become a sort of perverse ideological crusade for the Labour front bench.

I have been looking and feel like I'm banging my head against a wall Don't know where to turn next 😞

You’ve done so much Catherine fighting for yourself and all of us . It would be disgusting if all it achieves is help for the WFA , though I definitely think they deserve it . But it shouldn’t be a bargaining tool to stab us in the back . I’m wondering if Kendall looking into the pip assessments/ criteria suddenly means they could change it so it’s easier to get the 4 point , that way reeves and Kendall haven’t climbed down but softened the blow .
