I was reading a very lengthy report from the Trussell Trust yesterday - it's not directly about benefit cuts, yet shows the cost to the Gov't of not looking after people directly impacted by lack of support….it costs more to not look after those in need with their health, education, & their ability to get a decent wage, & therefore help the economy:
There are similarities here too. If we don't have the support we need, then perhaps we will cost the Gov't more with health costs, etc.
Much as I will continue to do as much as I can for other disabled people, I wouldn't want anyone who needs help to be at the expense of another also in need whether it's a child, someone of state pension age or a disabled person. I think we should be fighting for all those in need of help, stability & reassurance.
As far as the proposed disabilty changes go, the Gov't has been very reticent, despite all the money they're going to throw into this to help those on benefits (who are able) to get into work, as to the numbers (which seem to be rather low) who actually will gain useful employment, even if that's generally often with a zero hour contract/low paid.
All seems to be very badly thought out whether it's about the cost of hunger & hardship, disability cuts & their also serious impacts, or looking after 'older people,' remembering many have worked all their lives, or until disability struck them too…..disabilty doesn't necessarily improve, rather the converse, if you're an OAP.
Please let's support all those in need.
Just saw this link from the Trussell Trust dated 9 June:

AR, I was thrilled to get my bus pass and it has transformed my life! Walking to save bus fares hurt my feet and now there is no stress about keeping the Oyster card topped up.
The people you know who "had cars and driver's licences and drove everywhere, several were still in full time work." probably haven't applied for a 60+bus pass. I pay £10 a year to prove my address and it cost £20 to apply for. I cycle and love having choices about how I travel.
It's unfair that I must wait an additional 7 years to claim my pension though. I think it was assumed that pensioners would rush to claim Pension Credit and of course they didn't.
What changed to make it harder to qualify for a Freedom Pass?

I watched Bell being questioned by Whately in parliament and Kendall and Timms sat behind him . Nasty pair , Kendall looks evil and demonic. Something not right with her . If I didn’t know who they were I’d have thought they were Tory’s with the look of hatred on their faces .

While she’s being fought over cuts to MPs departments at the home office and net zero Kendall isn’t fighting for her department as she’s all for cuts . They make me laugh all this money on net zero while there are countries causing more damage. Not only that but they don’t care about animals or wildlife and will be happy to bulldoze over habitat to build houses. I thought saving the planet included wildlife. They’re spending money all over the place and saying austerity is over , it may be for others but it’s not for us . I don’t think the Tory’s were half as bad as this lot . Maybe that’s why they’re in the Labour Party, Tory’s thought them too evil

My reply from kemi , I replied are you voting for or against and how are you advising your cabinet to vote . Also if voting against cuts is it because you think they don’t go far enough. Not expecting another response. I bet she’s getting thousands of emails now

I'm going to email them as well. It's never ending.

I emailed my Labour M.P last night telling that his name is on on the list in favour of the cuts and if he votes for it he WILL be voted out at the next general election.
I don't expect to get a reply from him as he is ignorant and arrogant.

I received the same response not long after regarding my other email to her . I sent the post about Timms walking around a collapsed disabled woman. I think you received a personal message from her but I think now it’s getting closer to the voting she’s getting many more emails.
