He’ll try and cover up as much as he can I’m sure but it’s all over the news . He’s trying to save himself as I thought this was cooper or Jess Philip’s decision. I may be wrong but it seems he’s saving himself like he did the WFA. Please god let him u turn on the cuts and throw Kendall under the bus

"When Blair was PM he wanted to abolish the IB premium (created by Thatcher) and make IB the same amount of money as unemployment benefit. He could not get enough of his back benchers to agree so it was not attempted. And a faction in Labour I think including Blair wanted to abolish DLA (created by Major) and use the money for local authority provision of care services. Brown and his faction would not agree to it so it too was not attempted.
What Labour under Blair and Brown did do was change the contributions requirement for contributions based IB to reduce eligibility. Abolish SDA (created by Thatcher) for new claimants and replace it with a new income based IB. Make IB reassessment continuous and repeatedly changed IB assessment to reduce eligibility. Abolish IB and replace it with ESA to further reduce eligibility and encourage most of those still eligible towards work."0 -

I think there’s so much information coming out constantly it’s hard to know what’s true and what’s not . And it’s hard to remember as things just pop up on your phone. It’s all deliberate of course, or the government don’t actually know what they’re doing and making it up . I’m hoping Starmer gets worried enough and has another u turn . 🙏🤞

The government has proposed replacing contributory benefits like ESA with a new unemployment insurance that will be time-limited, potentially increasing demand for private income protection policies.
Unum (Insurance company) naturally wants to sell private income protection insurance. They offer policies that pay out a regular income to individuals who are unable to work due to illness or injury.
As state benefits such as ESA become harder to access or are reduced, insurers have a clear commercial incentive to encourage more people, especially working individuals, to purchase private cover as a financial safety net.

Timms has to respond to dpac letter regarding lack of consultations especially in Wales has to respond on Monday 16th June be interesting to see if he does I hope he doesn't then they can apply to court but it still wouldn't be in time before 30th June or 3rd July

Yeah I agree.
I going to try and forget about it today.

There is a section in the Green Paper that gave the impression that this "reform" was for "new claims":
53. Unemployment insurance would be a new non-means tested entitlement for people who have contributed into the system. It would be created by replacing contribution-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) and Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) with a new single entitlement, paid at the current ESA rate (currently £138pw) and will be time-limited. This would provide stronger income protection during periods of unemployment for those with a recent work record, while revitalising the ‘something-for-something’ contributory principle in the working-age system. People claiming this would be expected to actively seek work, with easements for those with work-limiting health conditions.
54. Alongside levelling up the rate, this change would end the indefinite entitlement to contributory ESA for those assessed as having limited capability for work-related activity (for new people claiming). Those unemployed after the time-limited period would be able to claim UC, depending on their personal circumstances. We believe this reform would align with the removal of the WCA, by offering a route to financial support for those with temporary and short-term health conditions, including for those who may not be entitled to PIP and therefore not entitled to the health element of UC.
Has anybody heard more about this forgotten "reform"?

I read this online yesterday, I can't remember who wrote the articles but if you search it you will probably find it,I haven't said anything I don't believe to be true,the article stated it had approached all the insurance companies for comment but all had declined.it certainly explains a lot and it wouldn't surprise me if some mps had financial ties to those companies ,it happens all the time.
