Remembering those who died at Grenfell – eight years on

H&F Council will raise the Grenfell flag outside its office in King Street on Saturday 14 June

Hammersmith & Fulham Council will fly the Grenfell flag for three nights on the eight-year anniversary of the devastating fire.

The flag is a mark of remembrance, compassion and solidarity on the anniversary of the tragedy which killed 72 and injured more than 70 people at the 24-storey Grenfell Tower in North Kensington.

Grenfell Tower will be illuminated in green from 7pm on Friday 13 June.Β There will be community-led commemorative events taking place on Saturday 14 June, including the Silent Walk which will start at 6.30pm outside the Notting Hill Methodist Church.

I didn't post yesterday because we're not a London community but all the Grenfell survivors, families and friends deserve to be remembered. The tower is due to be demolished later this year.

Yesterday, I wore green, tended to my house plants and made myself a big green salad.

Can't believe it's been 8 years already. I remember being at home and watching it all unfold on the TV in total disbelief. So many beautiful lives were lost and so many affected by losing their homes, friends and families.

    Thinking of everyone affected πŸ’š

That must have been awful for you Agnia. West London I know the least and I wasn't directly affected.

Thanks to anyone taking a moment to remember those poor souls this weekend

Thank you @WhatThe for creating this post.

I can remember that day so well πŸ˜ͺπŸ’” πŸ’š. I got up at 0400hrs and got ready quick to get to mum's 40 miles away to help her get up and bath her (she had cancer and dementia). It was the one day I hadn't put the news on.

When I put it on at 7am and saw the tragedy unfolded I cried. Mum said don't worry and upset yourself they'll get them out.

I didn't have the heart to tell her. It was desparately sad and they all deserve to be remembered so thank you πŸ’š.
