Where does the Bill state this?
"The bill will cut personal independence payments (Pips) for more than 800,000 people with disabilities, as well as carers’ support for 150,000 people who care for them. Claimants only able to wash half of their body or who are unable to cook a meal for themselves will no longer be able to claim Pips unless they have another limiting condition."
A person unable to prepare and cook a simple one course meal from fresh ingredients meets the 8- point descriptor.

Hi Bella , I get enhanced for both. I originally had standard care and enhanced mobility after fighting two years to upper tribunal. Then my last assessor lower mobility to standard and increased my care to enhanced . I was advised badly as I went MR for mobility and said to my advisor I want to ask for a longer award as assessor gave 2,years but dwp awarded 3. My advisor said no , wait to see what they say first . Advisor failed to send my new information in so they failed my MR. I called them and asked about tribunal and they said they’d just received the information I had sent so they sent it back to my case manager who immediately reinstated my enhanced. Had I asked for longer I may of got it . So when you had enhanced for both they originally gave you a short award time then increased it ? Did they say why if you don’t mind me asking . There seems to be a mystery around 10 year awards as I’ve also heard that enhanced both should get them

There was a link to guardian at the bottom though I’m not subscribed.

You're absolutely right. These reforms offer little to help people like us. The Severe Conditions Criteria remain vague, with no clear list of qualifying conditions. The government claims that 200,000 people will be protected, yet we have no idea who they are referring to. They clearly have something in mind, but we are being left in the dark. Conditions such as fibromyalgia and ME, both incurable, may not be recognised under the criteria.
Even more frustrating is the fact that if they can estimate 200,000 people, they must already have set criteria or a list of qualifying conditions. So why not be transparent? Keeping this information hidden only raises more questions. As for "light touch" reviews, they seem about as rare as a politician giving a straight answer.
The criteria mention factors such as whether someone will always meet the LCWRA standard, if the condition is lifelong, if there is no realistic chance of improvement, and if it is diagnosed by an NHS professional. Yet in practice, everything depends on how individual assessors interpret these points. Without clear and consistent guidance, fairness simply cannot be guaranteed.

According to what Bella posted they’ve said conditions such as heart disease and spinal injuries which is random. She also mentioned enhanced for both getting light touch awards . I have enhanced but only after MR for mobility. If you add MS, ME, fibromyalgia MD autism etc etc that’s nearer a million than 200, 00

I get enhanced rates for both components. My award letter uses the word "ongoing", which they consider synonymous with 10 years.

Oh wow good for you ❤️. What a relief that must of been. Can I ask had you filled out a review form before you received that ? I ask as my awards up next Feb and I haven’t received a form yet . Was this recent or years ago . Right now I don’t know what they’re doing. I do think I should have I even gotten longer with ME and fibromyalgia plus other conditions as they can’t be cured . I even should have gotten a 4point but got a 2 instead . Thank you so much for sharing that , it gives me hope 🙏

Hello Amy and welcome to Scope.
This whole situation is really confusing and a lot to take in, especially when it affects so many people’s lives so directly. I’ve been trying to make sense of it too.
You’re right, under the new plans, you will need to score at least 4 points in one PIP daily living activity. This is stricter than before, because instead of adding points from different activities, you must get four points in a single activity to qualify for any award. This means some people who currently get PIP might no longer be eligible. The mobility element of PIP will remain the same.
Universal Credit, this part is a bit harder to explain, but I’ll do my best. Right now, if you’re too unwell to work, you can get extra money added to your UC called the health element.
From April 2026, that extra money will only go to new claimants who have a very severe, lifelong condition that will never improve. The worrying part is the government hasn’t said exactly which conditions count, so many of us are left in limbo.
If you’re already getting that extra money before April 2026, you will keep it at the rate it is today, but it won’t rise with inflation, so over time it will be worth less.
From 2028, they will also stop using the current Work Capability Assessment and instead use the PIP assessment to decide if you qualify for the health element. This could make it harder for some people to get support.
You are definitely not alone in feeling overwhelmed by it all, I certainly am, as are most of our members.

I fear "The Guardian" is scaremongering, which is understandable today. The PIP descripters and a claimant's ability to perform an activity safely, reliably, in a timely fashion, and so forth has not changed and there is no mention of change in the text of the Bill.

Is it normal to have enhanced for both but just a short award ? I got my enhanced mobility back at MR. I should of asked for longer then but badly advised

Does your award have a date though zipz?
Mine says "ongoing" and on the next page after 2029
