    She's probably saying something like 'This is outrageous!' in a high pitched cackily voice.

    They gaffed with the WFA. After saying you must have pension credit to claim it, they realised it was costing them more in pension credit with the extras you get, that they knew it was costing them more than just to give it out again..Not really a Uturn for me, they're running scared to be honest.

    It will be the same for the disability cuts, just shift the expense to social care, NHS, mental health services and the like. Which is already creaking.

    It's so interesting how they've misread their MPs, that the paltry 'concession' of 13 weeks TP actually made people angrier, and the WFA about turn made them more determined. It is a massive risk to remove the whip from so many people if they vote against it - they'd be taking a chunk out of their majority, who would still be in parliament and able to vote against them in bills because they were legitimately elected. Removing the whip on one or two MPs is not a big deal. Removing it from a large number is a far bigger issue.

    Tories will also be interesting - they could absolutely get away with voting against it and keeping their hard line by claiming it doesn't do enough and should go further…but some of the main offenders in that party, Stride etc, have softened their stance against disabled people lately, so it's just as possible they might decide to oppose it just to make the government more miserable.

    Side note in all this positivity, something also has to be done about the anti-disability misinformation going on online. I literally saw someone tonight saying that the government were trying to help disabled people get into work 'at their level' so they could support the economy. Nothing says entitled like deciding an entire demographic are 'beneath you' because of their protected characteristic.

    The OBR have also given a revised statement: https://obr.uk/docs/dlm_uploads/Welfare-spending-supp-release-June-2025.pdf

    The United Nations isn't too impressed with this Govt as far as disabled people go either: https://www.rightsnet.org.uk/pdfs/concluding-observations-on-the-seventh-periodic-report-of-the-united-kingdom-of-great-britain-and-northern-ireland.pdf

    (scroll down to p9) where they say:

    41. The Committee urges the State Party, along with the devolved governments of
    Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales:
    (a) To assess the impact of the welfare reforms introduced since 2010 on the most disadvantaged groups and to take corrective measures, including reversing such policies as the two-child limit, the benefit cap and the five-week delay for the first Universal Credit payment;
    (b) To increase its budget allocation for social security and ensure that social benefits, including unemployment benefits and the daily allowance for asylum-seekers,
    are regularly indexed to the cost of living through an independent and transparent mechanism to provide recipients with an adequate standard of living;
    (c) To conduct an independent review of the eligibility criteria for social security, including the temporary reduction and suspension of benefits, and the reliance on a digital-only, automated approach to ensure that those measures are reasonable, comply with due process and do not create barriers to the uptake and maintenance of benefits;
    (d) To ensure that disability-related benefits, including the Personal Independence Payment and the Employment and Support Allowance, adequately cover additional disability-related costs, in line with the human rights model of disability, taking into account the recommendations of the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities'

    Thank you for sharing this. I'm glad to see my MP is on it, Andrew Cooper. When i sent letters after the green paper in March, he was the only one I heard back from out of 20 letters sent. Quite a nice letter but couldn't tell if he was on the fence or not.

    A few people plan to ruin millions of people lives so that they have more money to waste. Honestly they think they are so good at their jobs and they win the next election. Absolutely no chance the way they treating us over these disability change. No consideration given to the impact on the stress of all this 4.29 am and again I awake worry about how I will get by if I lose everything. Where the information on who they consult before announcing these proposals. I look at them and think none of you will be in power in 4 years time. Absolutely useless and you can see how much they are out of their depth. Changes to the winter payment says it all. They are incompetent amateurs who only got into power because of the mistakes of covid. Sorry to rant I have had enough

    Gosh, just looked him up on Google. Yes, definitely looks different to 'my' AC; sad story with his accident.

    Reminds me of when I watched an old re-run of Parkinson interviewing Paul Daniels a few months ago. I was so shocked what PD looked like when younger, totally different, even his build which was slight as he was older. Took c 5 mins until I realised it was Englebert Humperdinck he was interviewing and PD was out of camera shot. Duh !! I know I've got eye problems but really!! 🙄😬🤣

    @Topcat71 . You rant away, I hear you and relate 🫠😊. I think my insomnia is steroids-related/jittery/coughing. I don't think my mind has had a minutes proper peace since March. Well, 2 years actually. I try every day to change that but it's hard. You take care, we need to be here and for long after they're out on their ears.
