Unless Starmer has pulled the Bill, the vote will only be delayed is the amendment is accepted by the Speaker and is passed by the House.

What rubbish will he come up with now

He’s delayed the second reading till next Tuesday. So if the speaker allows the amendment what happens then ?

I do not think Starmer will be taking Kemi up on her offer, it’s not support, it’s an ultimatum, and I doubt he wants Conservative votes on those terms.
Also, I saw you mentioned in an early post that you had read the reforms would go through as a money bill, but that’s incorrect. The bill is being brought forward next week under primary legislation.

I've just sent an email to Grahame Morris, thanking him for keeping his word and adding his name to the Reasoned Amendment list. Also sent him encouragement as well.

Do you think we still have a chance?

Thank you MW .
yes I’m still reading of people claiming it’s a money bill . Not on here but elsewhere.
I hope he does accept kemi offer , I wouldn’t trust him at all .
My brain fogs so bad but I’m trying to work out what an amendment will do . If the speaker accepts the amendment what happens to the bill ?0 -
Next Tuesday was the date of the Second Reading. 1st July. Nothing has changed.

This that is happening is good news but . . . is it really its looking more and more likely every day that passes that reform is going to win the next GE labour want to reduce the bill by 5 billion a year reform want to reduce it by 15 billion if not get rid of welfare all together we really need to think what would be the best in the long run

But someone posted this .

How could that even be legal ?

I think it's a reference to the amendment. If it is accepted by the speaker and passed by the House there won't be votes on the Bill at the Second Reading on 1st July.

So if the speaker accepts it , the Labour MPs vote on it . If there’s enough Starmer supporters it goes for the vote for all MPs ?

If the Speaker accepts the ammendment to the Bill the whole House votes on the ammendment. If it passes the Bill itself cannot be voted on. If the Speaker rejects the ammendment or the House votes it down there will be the usual vote at the end of the Second Reading. All this happens on 1st July.
On X it's mooted that 129 or 131 Labour MPs are putting their names to the ammendment.

But if Starmer has enough MPs voting for the bill including Tory’s then the same will vote the amendment down. I don’t see the point of it then or am I missing something as I don’t know much about it

You are not missing anything. I think Labour rebels have been counting on Tory support. Tonight demonstrated how much is up to Kemi B. The Second Reading is a week away. A long time. Perhaps there will be more names coming forward against the cuts.

Kind of looks like we are doomed

Thank you zipz,
The amendment doesn’t seem so important then 🤷♀️

Hi.
Apart from your proposition to scrap the 4pts scoring system and keep the WCA in place, which I totally agree with, remember, I said about a month ago, that "they won't take their damn bill to the Commons for a vote unless they're sure that it'll get through. They'll keep turning it around until it's ready." That's now what they're doing. Starmer was hell-bent on taking it to the Commons on Tuesday until this morning, but his aides are now saying that there'll be a delay, simply because they've realised that it's not ready yet to get through, and therefore they need to keep turning it around.

Is there any chance of stopping it completely?
