How can he promise he’ll get us into jobs that aren’t there ? Why are we more important to push into jobs than healthy unemployed . And as for no tax rises , well how could he promise that . He already promised that pre election and then reeves broke that pledge and she’ll do it again

Up to the Speaker and, IMHO, it doesn't fit the criteria. Moreover, an attempt at this will infuriate his backbenchers.

@secretsquirrel1 and @waylander9602 Before the Second Reading of the Bill, the Speaker will decide whether this ammendment and any other ammendments tabled ought to be voted on. If this ammendment is allowed and it were to pass there wouldn't be a vote on the Bill. It couldn't proceed through the usual parliamentary stages.

Unless Starmer has pulled the Bill, the vote will only be delayed is the amendment is accepted by the Speaker and is passed by the House.

He’s delayed the second reading till next Tuesday. So if the speaker allows the amendment what happens then ?

I do not think Starmer will be taking Kemi up on her offer, it’s not support, it’s an ultimatum, and I doubt he wants Conservative votes on those terms.
Also, I saw you mentioned in an early post that you had read the reforms would go through as a money bill, but that’s incorrect. The bill is being brought forward next week under primary legislation.

yes I’m still reading of people claiming it’s a money bill . Not on here but elsewhere.
I hope he does accept kemi offer , I wouldn’t trust him at all .
My brain fogs so bad but I’m trying to work out what an amendment will do . If the speaker accepts the amendment what happens to the bill ?0 -
Next Tuesday was the date of the Second Reading. 1st July. Nothing has changed.

This that is happening is good news but . . . is it really its looking more and more likely every day that passes that reform is going to win the next GE labour want to reduce the bill by 5 billion a year reform want to reduce it by 15 billion if not get rid of welfare all together we really need to think what would be the best in the long run

I think it's a reference to the amendment. If it is accepted by the speaker and passed by the House there won't be votes on the Bill at the Second Reading on 1st July.

So if the speaker accepts it , the Labour MPs vote on it . If there’s enough Starmer supporters it goes for the vote for all MPs ?

If the Speaker accepts the ammendment to the Bill the whole House votes on the ammendment. If it passes the Bill itself cannot be voted on. If the Speaker rejects the ammendment or the House votes it down there will be the usual vote at the end of the Second Reading. All this happens on 1st July.
On X it's mooted that 129 or 131 Labour MPs are putting their names to the ammendment.

But if Starmer has enough MPs voting for the bill including Tory’s then the same will vote the amendment down. I don’t see the point of it then or am I missing something as I don’t know much about it
