I'm sorry to say @ased444 that no one will be able to answer that question just yet as we don't have definite plans in place still. We'll update people of any possible changes when we get more information of course.

It's mad when you think about it. They want to bring down the number of PIP claimants significantly, but they propose to link the LCWRA top-up payment [that makes living possible for those unfit for work] to being in receipt of a successful PIP award for Daily Living.

Nothing is confirmed yet, and you'd hope the government might see sense in not signposting every single LCWRA recipient in the direction of applying for PIP. But they did something similar with Winter Fuel Allowance and Pension Credit, so they'll probably push on with another expensive mistake.

I thought they were scrapping LCWRA and renaming it the health element as a top up only for people on daily living PIP. Or have they changed it?

I thought it was more the case that LCWRA remains but when the WCA is scrapped you will have to pass a PIP assessment in the future to remain a claimant. I have read this but cannot say it will be fact!

PIP is a separate benefit. You would need to go through a PIP assessment.

    Hello to danglanbridge88

Current LCWRA claimants get reassessed from time to time and reassessments are starting again. LCWRA could be called a health element in the future too. You would be better to wait until we all know what is actually going to happen with all benefits as currently nobody knows.

Hi @ased444, please remember that our members are just trying to help as much as they can. While we might not all know the answers and that can feel frustrating, the community is a better place when we're kind and understanding with each other.
