Hi all,
upon reading yogi bears mail or post or whatever one calls it I can vouch for what he says concerning my personal experience of the dwp this and I'll quote figures(figures being my personal monies received before and after the migration).
late March migration letter received. I was in receipt of £320.55 every fortnight, for income received esa in the support group with housing benefit going in full to the landlord. That £320 was mine to live on pay bills etc, etc. Then the dreaded letter…I had interview with dwp. Long story short, my income related esa was being dropped. They gave me phone number to ring esa Dept as they work independently of each other. (these are the tactics they used). Work independently my ****! anyway, I was then moved to the contribution based esa(which they also call new style esa). at same time I was placed on u.c. Two different benefits at same time. soo…my esa dropped from £320 fortnight to £281 a fortnight. a drop of £39? But because I now receive u.c. I get £107 a fortnight also. which means altogether means I'm better off. in both instances I was and still in receipt of housing benefit.
My one worry originally was the use of names, meaning income related and contribution based. it was my assumption that c.b.only lasted 1year,apparently I am wrong. according to the esa department who I rang.apparantly new style esa is different to the old style ir and cb benefit. hope that makes sense. I'm a she.😂 I'm claim ESA (Contributions Based) and in the support group which isn't time limited. However if I wasn't placed in the support group and had been put into WRAG I would've only got ESA for 12 months.

I get CBESA and LCWRA but no pip
I get my cbesa every two weeks and my lcwra at the end of the month.... My ESA gets deducted from it

Hi yogibear,
I'm so sorry for misunderstanding you for a he. If ever there was a case for a person showing their age, that was it by, on account of I used to love the cartoons as a kid. although I was slightly too old for it at the time. anyways my apology and I shall immediately slap my wrist and castigate myself for it. 😉

You have nothing to apologise for. 😂👍️

When filling the form in do you put your rent for housing benefit when applying as usually it's dealt with by local council. Are DWP and local council in cahoots.

Hi tumilty
I can only speak for myself but actually spoke to the person when migrating over and they assured me that they would take care of hb themselves, and they did to my discovery after I rang my local council offices and they indeed confirmed dwp had been in touch and all sorted. hope that helps.

@Socrates63 thanks for your reply I did think that.
Also I hear that they are a different department to ESA and they also contact them regarding health and reasons on ESA..We worry about stuff because of our health issues but generally is straight forward.

Hi tumilty
Shucks, I don't like to brag. That was many moons ago. I also been know to dabble in the old philosophy as a sideline 😉. re:about your post concerning health etc, yes they do go into it with your local council. assuming you're in council or housing association. suppose they have to, to cover themselves. understandable I suppose. Take care
socrates.

Hi again tumilty,
I can't for the life of me work out the punchline on that one. I've been on it for hours. no, sorry uve beaten me. put me out of my misery. What a bizarre picture I've got in my mind, the great socrates on the team bench smoking a ****(terribly hooked on the fags by the way) talking team tactics in a Scottish accent. Funnily enough he almost caused a coup in his own country by threatening to bring to team(national) out on strike over pay. He was a very deep thinker of politics. Hence his nickname socrates. one of the coolest of footballers ever to play the game. in my humble opinion of course. funnily enough I almost used my old username but thought better of it. Just thought I'd share that. 🤔
