hi everyone

was just wondering how long the council take to install a wet room,

They will be starting next week, they have a location within the property to place it.
we were supposed to have building plans but this never materialised and now they are ready to begin the work

I had a wet room installed, ( not by the council) it took 10 days to complete. It was an existing bathroom so everything was ripped out and all the old plaster and flooring removed.

    Thank you

I hope it’s not going to drag on for months, especially as it’s council

The time it takes can depend on all sorts of factors mokki.

The first one my old people built took a bit over a fortnight, but they were replacing the floor.

The first I did took a few days because they pulled out the bath and installed a accessible cubicle.

The second took about ten days but that included removing a bath and tiling the floor.

The most recent took about 5 days and the floor was resurfaced.

Maybe about a week would be my guess.

    Good luck

I've had it done twice through disability facilities grants over the past 20 years. Each time it was 2 weeks of working Monday to Friday. They provided me with a chemical toilet too, because the bathroom was completely out of bounds.

don't get mr started with this we had a fight with the local council to get my wet room installed with a toilet in and grab rails as they weren't having any of it. We had to extend what was the playroom and a snug and add an extra room in it for the bathroom.

We added a kitchenette, bedroom and living area to it as well because I was living upstairs in a bedroom but it wasn't working even though I had a stair lift because I used to push myself off it in an autistic meltdown so we decided to make me more independent and build me an flat next to my parents house.

fast forward a few years later we are deciding to redo it and are thinking about putting a bath in so if anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it. I am also looking into supported living as well because I have always wanted to live away from home so if anyone knows where to start I would much appreciate it. Thank you.

My wet-room took over 3 months to build and get kitted out..

I had to pay 100% of the cost, myself.

Here are a few photos of the build..
