@Katiedimelow20 ive spoken before of some of the similarities with your feelings and mother with my own parents. I won't bore you with them details.
My late sister had BPD and psychosis and was sectioned often. She decided to change her next of kin to me, as she felt uncomfortable with my mum knowing everything. It gave her some control back.
I left home when I was 21yrs so I had some control of my own life. I found my feet more though with counciling, it wasn't easy but I started to feel much more in control of my own life. I don't know if you have access to anything like that or have already tried this? Doctor's surgeries often have wellness clinics. im also not sure why you can't see your GP etc on your own? im appointees to both of my adult son's, if they want me or someone else with them then I try to help but I hope that I always give them the opportunity to make their own decisions. My eldest son has direct payments and has support from a carer for several hours a week, she goes shopping with him, takes him to appointments and it's up to him what he wants to do.
I think you may need someone independent who can help you with your difficulties. The only time they will usually pass details to other agencies or family is if they are concerned there is a threat to your life or someone else's.
I really hope you can get some support. I really feel for you.
@WhatThe I assure you that im not basking in others sorrows, im 58 and have had a most colourful life. If I see someone with a struggle and I think I may be able to give a bit of encouragement or advice then I will try. If I see a picture that makes me smile I may post a picture that I think may make others smile. It's my human trait Sept 2025.

You can insist on seeing the GP alone, can you not? You aren't a child and have a right to privacy.

if there is way when you are alone on your own you should talk to someone. is there a person like a social worker where you could talk to. this is pretty serious. that behavior is very controlling can you pass the healthcare etc. to someone else. you should chose who you feel comfortable with. as i said we do not choose our parents. you could try someone you feel more suitable than your mother and someone who will not control you in such way. sometimes the computer chooses the words .. now it has been corrected and i hope it makes sense.

It is easy for me, I know, but what would happen if you asked her to wait outside, right in front of the doctor?

@Katiedimelow20 its worrying that you don't have an advocate that you would want for yourself. Do you have a social worker? Anyone you can talk to alone? It's very hard it took me years to stand up to my parents, and it was by a letter to them, i gave a copy to my sister asking for her permission as it was about both of us. Also a copy to my gp and social worker. It ended up in heated words following a two year separation, i was so very scared, that's why i had to put it in writing. We finally reconciled and I'm in a better place with them now. Im not as open with my dad but tell my mum things past and future and accept their help when I need it. It's not something I would recommend to you or anyone else, that was my journey but i hope you know that there is help and hope out there.
