    Good Afternoon everyone 😊

Busy start to the day with putting bedding in the washer, then put washing away from yesterday. Then I tackled my fear and had a shower, nearly slipped a few times when standing up from the stool. Then it was a case of shaving the old head to a mirror finish.
I have ventured out into town, grabbed a coffee and now sat waiting for Nuremberg to start.

Going to be a very powerful film, I hope some of today’s generation watch it and learn something from it. I remember watching Schindlers List in school and learning about the Holocaust and it’s something’s that’s stuck with me ever since, the little girl in the red coat is seared into the minds of anyone that watched it. I’ve not been able to watch it since then. Another powerful film is one called Freedom Writers, a teacher in America went into a run down school with a very challenging class that were of mixed races, religion and creeds. She went off the set book list at the school and bought each class member a copy of Anne Franks Diary, they were very reluctant to read them at first but once they started reading it they were shocked to the core. The teacher also got them to write their own diaries which they were reluctant to do but did do. The students wrote to Miep Gies who helped Anne Frank and her family. They raised money for Mrs Gies to come to America and meet them, they sat down and listened to her stories. her experiences during the Holocaust, her decision to help hide the Frank family, and the importance of fighting prejudice and discrimination. Mrs Gies said to the class that “ They were the real heroes in there own life study” Mrs Gies very humbly said that “I just did the right thing at the right time”

Interesting! I never knew Miep Gies went to Amerika to share her story. Last year when remembering WWII I added both her book and Anne Frank's diary to the little free library.

As an adult I hardly ever read about WWII anymore, as it breaks my heart that painful history. And then seeing what goes on in the world right now, I wonder if we learned anything in recent history.

A friend of mine is a musician and for this upcoming remembrance of WWII she'll be part of Annelies by James Whitbourn. Weirdly, I always thought Anne Frank was simply Anne, but apparently her full name was Annelies.

    You enjoy the movie, Zippy!

    Thank You 😊

I have had a keen interest on Military History for a very long time. I have quite a vast collection of books on many different conflicts but a lot are on WW1 & WW2. I think my interest in military history I stems from my Grandfathers service during the war, alongside other family members. I lost two Great Grand Uncles on my Dads Side and a Great Grand Uncle on my Mum’s side during the Great War.

Glad you’re safe and well at home after tackling the shopping monster. The weather has really taken a turn for the worse, could be set for a bad end to Autumn and maybe a very cold Winter 🥶

I need to get my barrels varnished and planted up so they’re set for spring. Main one to get in the soil is spring bulbs that I’ve got.

I hate doing shopping. The weekends are the worse..bit as it was not too late I managed a bit. Now l have.to do it on a Tuesday as I have nothing to do on Tuesday. Yes it is very therapeutic to do any kind of manual job. Weather and health permitting....I wish I had a tiny spot I could call garden. Hopefully I will move to a better place one day..

I loathe doing shopping due to my high anxiety levels, due to my ASD I tend to use my AirPods as a barrier to block out external noises.

I’m fortunate to have a small area I can put a few pots out, be good to reignite the old former gardener in me. It’s fair to say when the barrels arrived you could smell the Whisky that had been inside them. I’m going to try and get both of them varnished tomorrow and then return them outside and plant them up before the first frost and snow sets in. I want to get a trough to go with the barrels and put in perennial poppies alongside 3 WW1 Tommy Soldier lights to not only remember the 3 Great Grand Uncles I lost in the Great War but also those of my family who also served in both wars and all those who have fought and died for King and Queen.

I love those barrels. They look so nice. I live on my earphones as well... It helps as any noise gets me very anxious.. honestly anxiety is awful.. and I get suspicious of people as well . So I try not to confront anybody.. I also hate those machines.. but now they made the tills so small it is better to use the machines.. shopping is done until maybe two or three weeks time..

It is also a very nice tribute.. in a way wars are senseless. And a lot it is lost because of them.

I just find supermarkets to be to stressful, busy and full of ignorant people. People today don’t have manners and tend to just barge you out of the way, the one big thing I hate is a self serving till 😤 I have arguments with it 😆

Just hoping the weather is ok tomorrow as I want to tidy up the front of the flat and then get the barrels varnished and dragged down the stairs which will be fun.

Watching films as well . It is getting cold ... people in the supermarket go about as if it was a competition. I am slow as I have to stop a lot. Now I try to do it and have it done.. I would not like it to have to have it delivered. ..I need to see what I buy.. now a couple of films and bedtime....even if I am already on my bed ..

I prefer ordering it online, due to my stomach condition I tend to stick to a strict diet as best I can. I tend to each month always order the same things.
I used to sometimes have to do weekly shopping with some of the guys I looked after, fair to say it was challenging. Was always a challenge pushing a wheelchair around a supermarket, let alone a trolley.

With my food I’ve decided that I’m going to start weighing out each item so I get the right portion size each time I use the air fryer.
One thing I avoid like the plague is the oven, just have no confidence using it.
Our lives will be more complicated next year when the council, my local council will be providing a green food bin to sit alongside the existing blue and black bins. With the new food bin, will come a food caddy for in the kitchen! Going to need an estate if they keep rolling bins out left right and centre.
My Caddy and Green Bin will be dormant as I don’t use fresh ingredients to cook a complex meal. I tend to stick to simple frozen healthy ingredients that are not processed foods. I would say 99.9% of the time there is no food wastage.
