Finding the perfect powered wheelchair
Hello, everyone.
I hope this is the right place to ask this and that it's okay to do so.
I have Cerebral Palsy Spastic Diplegia. I have limited mobility and and have used a manual wheelchair all my life, with e-motion wheels for the past 15 years or so. As a 30-something, I desperately want more independence and I think a powered wheelchair will be the first step towards that. I want to get an powered wheelchair and then apply for Motability. But, researching chairs is a minefield and Google isn't very helpful when searching 'indoor powered wheelchair with the best outdoor capabilities'.
I need a chair that will work indoors - around a home, a restaurant, shops, good for towns and cities - and I need to be able to use it on a train (and in the on-board toilets!). However, I would also really like to be able to access the countryside (which is where I live); I want to be able maybe go across the odd field, and not have to worry about the terrain being completely flat. A chair that was good on inclines would be really beneficial.
Ultimately, I want to be able to hop in my car with it and go for as many adventures as possible.
I know I am asking a lot and the perfect chair does not exist; everything is a compromise. But, does have experience or, or know about a wheelchair that might tick some of these boxes?
Thank you!
Rachael

Hi @ReD94
Good to meet you and thanks for your post. You are quite right when you say that there's no such thing as the perfect wheelchair, but U do know a few people with different types of CP that have purchased the Whill Model C2 Powerchair and The Nimbus. I hope that is of some help.
I'm looking at saving for e-motion wheels. How do you get on with them? Are they worth the cost?

Hello, @Richard_Scope
Thank you for replying and for your suggestions, I will take a look 🙂.
I love my e-motions! They mean that I can (just about) keep up with my friends and that I am far less fatigued. Without them, I would not be able to leave the house. For me, they are worth the cost. The only thing is that they are really, really heavy so loading into a car can be tricky. If you have any specific questions, I am more than happy to try and answer from my experience.
