Care contribution dispute
Hi all,
I recently had a care assessment with my local social care team (greater london borough), and I have been awarded some hours of care — from a relative
We are currently in the process of working out my expenditures and finding out how much the council might want me to contribute towards my care,
I am feeling a bit stressed and worried as I've heard that they can take the daily living component (standard rate) of PIP and universal credit
I heavily rely on the income I get to cover all my bills and wonder if I can dispute any amount of contribution
So far, it seems like I cannot afford to have any money taken from me
It would put me on the back foot
Is there any way I can dispute my contribution if it is high?

Scope has an information page:
The Council have to leave you with a certain amount of money, and take reasonable disability related expenses into account.
However bear in mind PIP Daily Living is paid to help with the extra costs of being disabled. It isn't unreasonable to pay some of this towards your care.
Unfortunately being disabled is expensive and in common with many others who aren't disabled, difficult choices have to be made financially to balance income against expenditure.
