What do you think about people on benefits spending on luxuries?

@vikki66 no I read your other reply, I just wanted to say again that I hope you can forgive me.
I'm thinking of joining a gym or martial arts class or something too.

Slightly similar question in terms of spending- am I allowed to spend some of the money that I receive in UC on my elderly parents who do not have enough money for their personal spending and would rely on me.
Can I pay for some of their monthly expenses that include their clothings, food etc. and then for a one off travelling to see their other children?
I have done so in the past month but wondering if I am allowed or not?0 -
Hi @e4e
Yes that is absolutely fine to do😊1 -
I think it's fine, being able to spend money on things like hobbies which bring you happiness and fulfilment is good for mental health. It's not someone's fault if they're genuinely not able to work, so why shouldn't they be able to have luxuries like everyone else?
For some people luxuries like a TV, being able to listen to music, hobbies, etc are the only way they're able to enjoy life, they shouldn't be expected to just sit there staring at the wall with nothing and only being able to spend money on food, clothes, bills, repairs, and nothing else.
