These are (German) Ford Taunus's - based on a mk 3 Cortina - an extremely good looking car - methinks !!

Love the Tauna … got a back end like a Mk 1 Capri. Love the brown OPEL too
Cars had so much character back then. I used to do welding work for a car restorer and everyone's dream car the E Type … I hated, was the ugliest IMO
My first car was a Toyota Carina 1600 E Deluxe. Twin Webers as standard, you could see the fuel gauge drop. I then moved to a Totota Celica GT, a Morris Marina TC and then a Sierra XR4
And I wish I'd kept them all, the prices they're getting now
Carina the same colour as I had … Reg JEJ 6P

They did rot quick though, I had a Nissan Sunny, beautiful car. And no matter how many times you waxed or cleaned it, the underside still rotted.

That they did. To be fair the Toyotas were pretty good, but I remember the Datsuns … they left a trail of rust, and Fords weren't a lot better, once the battery box in the XR4 went it seemed like it had developed tin worm overnight. The Marina TC … you only had to breathe on that and it dented
Modern cars have their plus points

I used to own a Datsun 120y - pre- Sunny - 1977 - It was 100% reliable and the bodywork was no worse than the equivalent UK car (say a marina/allegro) at the time !!
I never serviced it and it just went on and on - I got rid of it after 4 years because I was bored of it !!!
It had cloth seats, a radio and heated rear window as standard - something that UK cars did not !

How many of these can you name ?
They were all owned by Wibbles !

I had the pleasure of meeting Tommi in '95 when they were testing in the forestry I was working in. He was pretty sheepish because we had to pull his Evo III out of a ditch 😁
Pleasant bloke, took us for short 'spins' … terrified the life out of me
700bhp … what turbocharger did you replace the stock one with. That's a lot of geegees
What car is this …
@Wibbles … I can name them all apart from which model SEAT … Love the Cavalier SRi - I had one in red. Until the OS drive shaft went and back then cars seemed disposable ?
I wasn't knocking the Datsun's as such, and never owned one but knew people who did. Maybe the wet climate and sea air here contributed to their demise. They were certainly no different to Fords of the era. I've always loved Japanese cars. Loved the Mazda 323 I had. It didn't meet a good end with another driver not knowing how wide their Transit was 😒

That's a Toyota MR2 and sorry - No SEAT !

yep about the MR2 … for some reason I saw a SEAT badge … Celerio or SX4 … SX4 ?
The Capri, Black Cavalier, Datsun, XR3i and maybe I don;t know them alll .. Spitfire ? would be worth an absolute fortune today

3 x Suzuki Swifts (yeah I like Suzuki's) and a Suzuki Baleno (rare !) a Mitsubishi Pinin and a Focus and an Astra (worst of the bunch)
Not as much as the Capri - it was a 3000S with recaro interior and full length webasto roof !
45 years of driving - 100% accident free - now given up - arthritis/bicep tendonitis makes it dangerous

Must admit I thought the Pinin was a Vitara (considering the Suzuki **** 😉)
Only ever been in a Pajero … an import, so maybe it's the Shogun here ?
45 years accident free is some achievement, fair play. I wish I could say that … but always another drivers error. 2 bad ones that left me pretty messed up … but still standing, if ever so slightly wonky now
You must miss it, it comes across as you being a PistonHead

Yes I do miss it - I raced around Goodwood and did skid pan practice in my youth as a student and then worked as a field engineer and several times a year did the South England to North Scotland run - I was driving on the very spot that Pan Am flight 103 went down (Lockerbie) - exactly 24 hours previous (1988) in my Capri 3000s
