Carers element backpay awarded, then decision reversed on journal
Hi guys. I have a issue with carers allowance backpay. I was recently accepted for carers element backpay. I messaged in my journal regarding another issue and was told I was no longer eligible for the backpay?
I then asked for a MR and this was the response from them
Im very confused. Can anyone help me with this?
Thank you in advance.

Hi @Sunshine005 and welcome to the community. I'm not sure why they're saying you're not eligible for backpay after being told you were. Have you tried to reply via the journal? I'd ask them to explain and clarify if what they're saying is true. Hopefully it's just an error and you will still get backpay. I can't think of any other reason for it.

The original letter is from the decision maker and it clearly states they have accepted your reason for delayed reporting. I wonder if the person responding in journal has misread the letter.
I'm confused what you have submitted an MR for though, was it after the initial letter?

Wouldn't surprise me, the DWP are grossly incompetent at the best of times IMO, not even aware of their own rules…

Incompetent is a little harsh. Lacking training, time and support is more accurate.
