hi my daughter is autistic and is ebsa due to anxiety. she hasnt attended school since year 5, shes now in year 10. she has a ehcp and sees a mentor not connected to the school two days a week for three and a half hours each day that the ehcp is paying for. she has been seeing that mentor for 5 years and has an extremely close relationship with her. that mentor has been the only positive thing in her life and has helped her considerably with her mental health problems, she also does work there called asdan and also maths. the secondary school she is at are clearly not meeting her needs and the relationship has completely broken down between us and the school. i have been summoned to a meeting tomorrow with the school as im 100% sure they are going to stop the mentoring as they say that its not working as its not getting my daughter into school. which mentoring is working for her and the school is not. i feel that the school is using mentoring as a bargaining tool to try and bribe my daughter to attend. i need help and advice as to how i can stop them from cancelling mentoring as my daughter has self harmed in the past and im afraid all this stress will trigger it off again. im not very good in dealing with the teachers and they talk over me and are quite intimidating. they are also threatening me with a fine.

    Thank you for telling us a little bit about your situation. It sounds like you and your daughter have been through a lot.

    How did the meeting go with the school? Is your daughter able to keep her mentor?

    Hi, no the school has said they are stopping it as of july as its not getting her into school. They say its not working even though the mentoring is working its the school thats not. I need to know what i can do about this, who i can contact to help us. She has been at the school since year 7 has an ehcp and she has only one more year to go. They havent bothered till now to do anything and shes had no education whats so ever. They expect her to start coming in to small groups to do work in school just like that. That school has lied so many times about things, making false promises, and not following through with it, why now are they pushing down on her. Her mental health is very fragile and there is no way she will be able to get out the car let alone go into school. My daughter has come a long long way because of make it mentoring and now she is going to go backwards because of them. Im so mad and upset, i need help.
