Senegal the best team in the first half. France are too slow.

I totally agree, Senegal so far look like the team most likely to score.

Pity for Senegal. Such a good performance and they’ll still lose decisively.

France came alive in the second half and there was only going to be one winner.

    Glad Senegal scored one though.

    I really like Senegal :)

I’m watching the Argentina game. I am thinking Argentina will struggle in this World Cup

Wow amazing hat-trick and they’ve looked so comfortable tonight, I was thinking maybe they would struggle but they look very assured. I’m glad I stayed up to watch :)

I only caught the highlights but they looked pretty comfortable didn’t they? I was up early, so I just watched the Austria v Jordan game. Not a bad match, really. Jordan looked good to begin with but once Austria finally got into the game it felt inevitable.

That’s cool you got to see the Austria game, I felt tired during the Argentina game and couldn’t keep awake any more. I look forward to seeing the Austria highlights. Argentina looked comfortable and there were times when they were playing walking football in their own half before suddenly passing it forward with arrow straight passes through the middle. I still wonder how sustainable that is, Algeria allowed them to play walking football and to pass right through the middle. Another team like Germany or Japan who are both running teams I think will press and attack a lot quicker than Algeria and so Argentina wouldn’t be allowed to walk it about. Maybe though they are aware of this too and already have another way of playing against countries like Germany

That's a really important point. I have to admit I haven't seen much of Argentina since the last World Cup but if their gameplan is low energy and direct passing then I think they'll struggle against a more disciplined pressing team. I'm sure they'll adapt though.

    Tonight we've got:

    6pm (BST): Portugal (@luvpink and @mellybobs) v DR Congo (@bri1959)

    9pm (BST): England (@Tony60 and @Ainger13) v Croatia (@Rachel_Scope and @tsureshan)

    12am (BST): Ghana (@StoryGuy) v Panama (@Amberpearl)

    3am (BST): Uzbekistan (@JanePS) v Colombia (@Bluebell21 and @elle19)

Who have we got? Any predictions?

    • Does Cristiano Ronaldo's presence for Portugal result in a bad start for the Portuguese?
    • Do England get their World Cup started off well, do we suffer through a tense draw or worse?
    • How do Ghana and Panama get on?
    • And how do Uzbekistan perform in yet another World Cup debut?

No prediction from me as I don't know enough, but do hope England secure a win. They've had a bit of a nightmare since getting there with sunburn and having some of their kit stolen bless them.
