A tense draw sounds about right.

Hello :) I think Portugal win, England lose, Panama win. And I think Colombia will win, but narrowly. 2-1 Colombia

We always have such high hopes for England and more times than not they just scrape through.
Lets hope the new manager has a different game plan than just passing from side to side and backwards.
I hope Colombia win they are my team, although at 3am I will not be watching live.

I'll go with 3-1 to Portugal, 3-0 to England (I choose to be optimistic!), 1-0 to Panama and 2-0 to Colombia.
I fully expect to be using extremely colourful language by half time, but I can hope.

All my life, the English football press have been banging on about 1966 (ancient history), declaring their team should go all the way this time etc. We joke about it up here.
I suspect the England fans are more realistic that the media, that certainly was my experience of World Cup 2002, when I was living in England.
I haven't met anyone that doesn't know England have produced some excellent teams over the years, but what went on 60 years ago, butters no parsnips; Brazil have won five times, West Germany and reunified Germany have won it four times. Even Uraguay have won it twice.
The Scotland team making it to the finals is our World Cup win, getting out of the group would just be icing on the cake. I was surprised to learn that that 1-0 win over Haiti the other day, it was only Scotland's fifth win at the finals. I am pretty doubtful as to their chances against both Brazil and Morocco, especially the latter!

I won't pretend to know a lot about football or the politics of it but it seems lots of the big names in the premier league play for other countries. Completely get wanting to represent your own country and don't begrudge it, I think it's great, but doesn't it mean they train here and then use those skills to beat us? 😆

I think Scotland will probably grab a point from their two remaining games. It feels weird to say it, but I reckon they have a better chance against this Brazil squad than Morocco. I would be surprised if they didn't get through to the last 32 at least.

Scotland being in it is great, I saw loads of videos from Americans who said the atmosphere in the stands amongst the Scottish fans was unreal.

Unlike the last WC I haven't watched a single game, and won't … but must say there's been some surprising results.
Will have been some big betting losses … and huge wins for those brave enough to have put them on
*** Not not watching because of politics etc … just fell out of love with the game after 40 odd years of being football through and through. From playing to coaching, to watching every game going … grassroots and TV

I haven't watched any games either, I boycotted the last 2 WC as well, the corruption stinks. I will admit to listening to the Scotland game on Sportsound, I weakened that much at least!
Folk are jokingly referring to the Soccer World Series. They might as well go the whole hog, as they have decided on 4 quarters in a game! (Just no).

I know I lost my number when I removed myself but could someone tell me what team number 20 drew? It was my number before I left and I'd like to still support them even if it's not my team.
I admire this a lot. The corruption has been obvious for years and it felt very off following it in Qatar, but it's even worse this time and so much more 'on the nose'.

Hi @Emilee number 20 is Qatar. They drew 1-1 against Switzerland in there first game.
If you ask @Adrian_Scope he might be able to let you share this number with the member that has it. Some of the numbers have been doubled up.
Take care.

1-1 Portugal v DR Congo at half time. Good goal DR Congo.
Some of the players should be on the stage.

I try not to think about the politics so much and just try to enjoy watching the games ☺️ It is really sad that there is corruption and greed in so many things within and outside of football and I feel more sad thinking about it so I try to avoid politic news in the last 3 years. I’ve really enjoyed this World Cup so far compared to previous editions because so many teams are trying to win a game rather than play sideways and slow :) I think this is good for the game, to see fast attacking play :)

Brilliant game for DR Congo. Good draw.

Brilliant from Congo, fantastic result! 👏

Well done DR Congo, so great to see :)

I can't separate the two, unfortunately. I have said before, if the disgraced former FIFA present, Sepp Blatter cites corruption, it must be off the chart. A pox on all their houses.

England are inspired in the second half. They are quite exciting to watch.
