Brandishing it out of the car window a big no no … security checking it on the doors of the Comic Con to see that it complies and not a prohibited item makes it OK
If people have to stop having fun, then the ones with nefarious intent are winning and the world is going to live in constant suspicion and fear

No PC worth his pension would arrest a 5 year old carrying a prop gun, they'd be laughed out of Court.
More to the point, kids do play "Cops and Robbers" or even "Cowboys and Indians", I did back then, and I turned out OK.

Yeah, no PC worth his weight would ever arrest someone for a cardboard gun. They would probably laugh the person who reported it down the street. Haha. Hope you have a good time at your convention whatever you choose to do.

Technically you could be arrested for any type of 'firearm' … but common sense dictates, don't wave it around in public, don't cause anyone fear or distress
In a Comic Con there's less chance of being arrested than me walking 20 yards without going sideways. Just have a good one 😊

Totalitarian regimes are afraid of their citizens and prohibit them from owning weapons. If desired, a lone terrorist can, even where there are many prohibitions, kill many innocent people.
Stupid restrictions only benefit the authorities. Consider, for example, the gradual, de facto erosion of the rights of people with disabilities through new laws.
For example, why is there no ban on studying combat planning at universities? Think about it.0 -

I'm sure nothing untoward is likely to come of it, but I still would exercise caution, with regards to i imitation firearms. You know you mean no harm, but what about members of the public getting the wrong idea; imagine if the person in possession of the imitation firearm were to also suffer a meltdown?
Tragic mistakes have happened.

I mentioned this above, but it doesn't matter about the good intentions of the holder of perhaps a perfectly innocent object, it's other memebers of the public drawing the wrong conclusion that's the problem. The man in the article i linked to was shot dead by the police, all for having a table leg in a carrier bag, it was reported he had a sawn off shotgun.

On this subject though … we're not talking about parading any type of 'weapon in public. Where someone could misconstrue true meaning
… we're talking about a convention, where security will check, then security tag any 'weapons'. Where a cardboard gun would be one of the tamest weapons being carried/ brandished around

I agree that Sheffield's intentions are perfectly innocent, but none of us can control what another member of the public might conclude.
I agree that if any imitation firearm has to be taken to an event, it should definitely be concealed in a rucksack or whatever the rest of the time. My view is still to forgo even carrying a concealed imitation firearm in the first place, but it's only my opinion.

You do not notice the obvious - laws constantly take away certain rights from the people. The right to guns is no longer there, now the fight is against mock guns used for entertainment purposes. Should we remind you about the new ban on social networks for teenagers?
