The Triple Lock is not some magic money tree that gives pensioners a vast fortune.
From April 2026 the new state pension per week is £241.30 this was an increase of £11.05 per week.
Basic state pension is per week £184.92 this was an increase of £8.47 per week.
To get the new state pension you need 35 qualifying years of NI.
To get the basic state pension you need 30 qualifying years of NI.
You need at least 10 years of qualifying years of NI to get any state pension.
In 2027 the new state pension will go over the tax band of £12570 so any pensioner who has even a small private pension will pay tax on the state pension.
I have seen on the forum several times where other members think the Triple Lock is too generous the above figures show the true story,
We should all be supporting each other where benefits are concerned and be pushing for fair benefits for all not knocking one group .

At the same time people are stuck in the system as there are simply no jobs for people.

Let's bear in mind that we may have different opinions when it comes to politics. I know it's an emotional topic but let's try not to target a whole group and assume that they all have the same views.

I just know that if they start attacking us that require benefits to get through each day let alone month, there will be a few thousand extra stones in the graveyard….

I am known to mention it, but I dont really have an opinion on whether its a fortune or the opposite, my points tend to focus on that its inconsistent to the rest of the benefit system, and the public dont really care about it the way they do about health benefits.

I would have to disagree. The public were very interested when the government stopped the winter fuel payment for pensioners. It was because of public opinion that the government did a U turn.
It is different to other benefits as you have to have the qualifying years of NI to get the State Pension.

Well it wasnt the general public, it was the pensioners who were affected. There was never masses of obsession on social media about it like there is for PIP, no Reform campaign and press conferences on it, this made it much easier for the U turn to happen as there wasnt much pressure to keep the WFP changes in place. Just lots of pensioners (who are a massive voting demographic) not happy, so the government did the predictable thing.

All benefits matter to the people who are receiving them. The triple lock gets a lot of bad press just like other benefits.
We should be supporting each other not pointing fingers at one particular group.
